Prologue: The Chase

It was the perfect and ideal day to sit down and watch an episode of The Fairly Odd Parents while drinking a cup of hot cocoa. At least that's what I thought after school had ended and there were no homework given for the day. Everything was perfect. That was, until "it" happened.

What exactly was happening you ask? If you had guessed that unusual things are taking place in this very moment, then you are most certainly correct. Now, how did I end up being chased by these eccentric monsters that seem so unrealistic? Unrealistic in a way that they weren't even animals. They may seem to resemble their wild nature but no, that wasn't it. They had horns splattered in blood and fur as dark as the night sky covering their entire body. They had sharp yet crooked claws that could possibly tear out someone in an instant. They didn't care for other living beings except for us humans. They wouldn't even mind when a small bird was in their way. They seem attracted to us.

If only I had a way out of this. I just ran as a fast as I could. Thank goodness for my morning routine. I was able to take a rest for just a couple of minutes while they fed off and found a brand new target. It had always saved me time, but for some reason, no matter how far I've gone, they were alerted right away of where to find me. Did they stick a GPS on my back or something? But it could probably be that they had this strong sense of smell, much more powerful than a dog's. They must have become so familiar with my scent. That actually just sent shivers down my spine.

I slid my backpack to the front and held it closer. I rummaged through my stuff. I needed something to ward these creatures off. That was if it was actually possible. I was silent for awhile. Nope, there isn't anything to help me out. Where was a Pokedex when you needed one? Dang, I've been watching the television too much these days. Those creatures just seemed so out of the ordinary. What exactly are they?

I looked behind as I heard the sound of metal clashing together. I tried to catch my breath and push further upon seeing that two of them were on the chase for me. I'm pretty much sure there were five of them awhile ago. The others must be feeding off of human beings. The thought of it really stressed me out. My emotions were all mixed up by anxiety, worry and fear. What if I become like them? Everyone was at the stake of death.

A black van suddenly stopped in front of me. The door slip open and there was a guy around my age group running towards me. He forcefully took me by hand, pushed me and led me inside. I took a deep breath and exhaled it all out. I didn't even know him. He was such a complete stranger yet I felt a sense of trust towards him. That was what I had in thought until he took out a rather small syringe and quickly injected me on my arm.

"Rest well."

Those were the last words I heard before I lost consciousness.
