The two sat in his bedroom, finding it hard to use their words. Bekkah struggled to get a glimpse of his eyes through the wall of hair. He made no move to stop her until she reached up to move his hair out of his face. She looked hurt, but he couldn't stand to see her hurt. He kept his eyes on their hands. It was the only thing that could distract him. He turned her wrist and saw the thin lines that had appeared that morning. His blood ran cold and he glared at her.
"Bekkah, whats this?" He ran his thumb over the scars. Bekkah had frozen under his touch, scared. She wracked her brain, looking for something to say. She looked at him, all color drained from her face.
"Jonah," She stuttered, "I swear, I didn't do it. I swear." Her eyes were hard. Emotionless. Jonah seemed taken aback, and he started to relax. "If you didn't do this to yourrself, who did?"
Bekkah reached to his wrists and slid the sleeve up. Lined up and down his forearm were small, long cuts. She gasped and he cringed at the sight. She rested her wrist next to his and the cuts lined up exactly. The cuts on Jonah's arms were scabbed over and red. He gently pushed Bekkah's hand away and slid his sleeve down again. He gave a daring look to Bekkah, and pushed himself off the bed.
