The next few days went on with no further developments in all of the events that had happened. Only some of the dead couldn't be identified, the others either weren't in the system or their faces were too mauled to be able to see the face. The ones that were identified were all rogues that had no connection to the others. Jenny made a comment about how they all lacked personal hygiene, but her mate informed her that that was normal.
Logan was sent home to be with his mate, he hopped on a plane back with Winnie and her family. Dustin would pull him back if they needed him, but right now there was no reason to keep him from Cherry. He promised to call his father every day and talk through pack problems and conflicts. Alpha Hunter, Dustin's father, said he would be announcing that they finally had a future Luna in the coming days.
Eventually, Jenny would have to make a trip down to meet the pack and start learning about their way of life. Dustin had told her that it would only be a couple of days at first, just to meet his family and some of the higher ranked pack members. They would keep doing these trips so she would feel more comfortable, almost like she had a second home. Her mother told her it would help ease the transition.
While Dustin was on calls with his father, Jenny was back in training with the guards and her brothers. They worked maneuvers, strength training, and Jenny's favorite: running. She had always felt like if all of her training failed, she could just run away. And if she was good at it, she could get away. Eric said that it was a cowards' way out, but she always rolled her eyes at him.
At night, she and Dustin would sit on the back porch and talk about life back at the Night Walker Pack. She tried to soak up all of the information he gave her, but all she could focus on was his voice and the way her body tingled when she touched him. Jenny made note that Dustin was careful around her, he didn't want to scare her and she could see the guilt in his face when she jumped.
When she was bored, Jenny would go and do one of her favorite things: read. Her fathers in-house office had an array of books, it was like a miniature library. The lower levels were nothing but kid books so that they were easier for the children to reach. The higher up you went the more grown up the books got. When Jenny developed her love for reading, they would add all of her new books to the collection. Her father loved the way all of the books looked and encouraged it by bringing her books every now and then.
Other days, her and Stark would go out into the woods, or sit by the pond and try to harness the darkness that laid within her. She still hadn't brought up the white smoke and how she had healed Winnie, though she probably should. But who could she talk to about it? Jenny didn't want to worry her parents, Dustin was still taking in the murderous side of her, and Stark already barred so much of her struggles on his shoulders. Eventually, though, the truth would come out.
"Just concentrate," Stark said, sitting in front of Jenny. She gave him a look; it wasn't that simple. She couldn't just conjure up emotions by thinking about them really hard. In all honesty, she felt pretty normal, not overly anything, well, maybe annoyed. "Don't look at me like that."
"We've been at this for a while, I don't think it's possible to just call on anger and feel the need to kill people," Jenny said.
"Okay, then try to focus on the root of it. Like where your first feel it start," Stark said. So she did. Jenny closed her eyes, hands resting on her folded legs. Whenever she felt the darkness, it always started in her heart, like a piercing fire. But she didn't feel that now, she just felt empty. Not numb like you are when you've been crying or have given up, but she wasn't really feeling any type of emotion at all.
"Nope," she said, looking at Stark.
"Okay, well let's try again later," Stark gets up and held out his hand for Jenny to take, which she does. "The goal is to not get frustrated, you need to be able to call it without being emotionally involved. That way you can control it." She agreed with him.
