𝐈𝐕𝐘.

while standing outside the school, waiting on his uber home kairi was startled slightly when he felt a hand wrap around his upper arm. he turned around with wide eyes, letting out a breath when he saw an amused mattia standing there.

"jesus, maybe say something before grabbing me like that." he shook out of mattias hold, running his fingers along the spot where his grip was.

"dully noted." mattia said before looking over his shoulder.
kairi followed his gaze to see a group of boys, all of them watching the two.

he recognized them as mattias friends.

"hey, i want you to meet my friends. is that okay?" mattia looked at kairis who's eyes were wide.

he wants me to meet his friends.

it wasn't that big of a deal but to him it was a huge step in building any type of relationship, and it made kairis heart race.

this has never happened to him before, in all the years of solitary he'd convinced himself he was unlikable and thats why he'd never been approached. that it was his looks or the way he presented himself.

so the fact that mattia polibio- being fairly popular wanted to be friends with him out of all people, really amazed him.

he wanted to meet them, he really did, but there were a number of complications. including his crippling social anxiety and his insecurities about himself and in his ability to maintain friends.

he was scared that mattias friends wouldn't like him.

but knowing that mattia wanted him to meet his friends ignited some type of motivation to put himself out there.
so despite the way his stomach flipped with nerves he nodded, watching the way mattia smiled as he waved his friends over.

"they are a little much but they're nice." mattia informed him as the boy quickly made their way over.

kairi tried his best at a welcoming smile but he's pretty sure it was more weird than anything.

the boys stopped in front of he and mattia and kairi counted four.

"hey i'm roshaun." the tallest of the four spoke first, his smile was warm and eased kairis nerves a little.

"alejandro." this ones smile was wide but not really as sincere as roshauns- or maybe kairi was just over analyzing something as simple and straight forward as a smile.

"i'm robert." he seemed more awkward than the rest and immediately based of that kairi predicted that he'd be his favorite.

the last boy wasn't so quick to speak.

spending a moment observing kairi, his small figure- kairi being not that much shorter than him. alvaro observed his multiple chains that he not so discreetly had tucked under his hoodie. the casual pair of yeezys he rocked. and the way he chewed his lip nervously when he noticed he wasn't saying anything.

"im kairi." he briefly averted his gaze up towards mattia who rolled his eyes at his friend.

"thats alvaro." he pointed to the short boy who made a face, not necessarily mean but not welcoming at all. judgmental was what it was.

kairi stood there awkwardly, not really knowing what to do next. it didn't help with the obvious negative aura seeping from alvaro.

he shifted on his feet slightly, looking up at mattia was was already watching him.

he gave the taller boy a look implying he had no idea what to do and mattia laughed. "you were not this awkward when we met."
