Chapter 12 - Minute of Decay...
I heard Marilyn breathe in sharply. "Rose..."

"Yeah, hi, I found you." She simpered, running a hand down his chest before bringing her hand back up to tap his nose. "Did you really think I wouldn't find you?"

"I..." I saw him fumble for words. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm here for you... to bring you back..." she looked pointedly at me. "Or has your little plaything got her claws in you too deeply?"

"Oi!" I snapped, offended. "He came looking for me, not the other way around."

"Oh, I'm sure you were less than willing to let him into your bed." Rose smiled politely back at me, clearly happy she'd gotten under my skin so quickly.

Rose's smile was too simpering, too sickly sweet for it to be real... to be honest it was making me nauseous. I gave her a smug smile. "Nice to know he had to lessen his standards after dating me." I saw her frown and my smile grew even smugger. "Oh, yeah, I had him before you ever did... and I was so good he cameback."

"Well, if he can come back to you, he can come back to me-" Rose began but Marilyn cut her off.

"Rose... I'm not leaving her." Marilyn butt in, his voice soft, but firm as he gazed steadily down at Rose; and I had to stifle the urge to gape at him. "I love her, and that's that."

"You used to say that to me not too long ago." Rose glowered up at him. "Remember that?" I saw Marilyn stiffen. "I don't see why you care so..." Rose continued with a shrug. "Bringing up love while talking to your ex in front of your current girl seems childish to me-"

"Stalking your ex so you can taunt him seem childish...to me." I raised a superfluous eyebrow at Rose as she looked back at me. "And he's pretty childish..." I pointed briefly to Marilyn. "...so that's saying and hell of a lot more about you than I bet you want people to know."

"And what would you know? I bet you opened you're legs to him the second he walked through the door!" she spat.

"Actually, I tried to throw him out of my sisters apartment." I replied calmly, flicking imaginary lint of my clothes. "And I know him a hell of a lot more intimately than you," I smiled a sickly sweet smile at her. "I had twins by him. That's why I left... he never got over me." My smile turned a little cruel. "One of the perks of being someone's first love... we lasted."

"Oh really?" she smirked back. "Why's that then?"

"Because, what we had..." I paused as I stood and made my way over to the doorway, stepping in front of Marilyn and placing my hand on the wood of the door. "Was real."

"You bi-" Rose began, but was cut off by the loud, echoing thud of the heavy front door slamming back into place followed by the click of the lock.

I folded my arms across my chest and raised an eyebrow at Marilyn as he stood still staring at the door. "You said you left her. That she wouldn't be a bother."

"I believed what I said when I said it." Marilyn replied cautiously, no doubt feeling my hidden irritation at his ex's presence.

"that's not the same as it being the truth." I murmured, looking down at the floor. "How'd she find us?"

"I told my manager where Twiggy and I were so he wouldn't worry... and I told Aaron so he'd be relieved I got you to talk to me." Marilyn huffed. "How could you tell him and not me?"

"How could you tell me no one knew where we were when you lied?" I asked back, still calm.

"I..." he paused then sighed. "Look, I'm sorry... I honestly thought she'd be more mature about this."

"Guess not." I mumbled crossly.

"Now look who's being childish?" Marilyn smirked at me.

"No." I pointed at him deliberately. "I'm mad at you. And you won't stop that by being al charming... and suave..." I looked up at him, sighing in defeat when a small smile crossed my face. "And downright endearing when you look at me like that..." I smacked his arm playfully and repeated something I'd said to him once. "You're manipulative, connivingly clever, seductive and you know it..."

Marilyn chuckled as I came willingly into his arms when he tugged me closer. "And why's that a bad thing again?"

"Because," I smirked and leant up to kiss him. "I'm falling for it all over again..."

"Hey! Hey, you guys!" Twiggy giggled to our left and we broke apart to look at him.

I frowned when I saw him point up. "What?"

"You're under the mistletoe I put up! And you didn't even know it!" Twiggy laughed again, falling over.

"Oh, right, it's Christmas..." I smiled up at Marilyn.

"Once again under the mistletoe." Marilyn chuckled. "I wonder, does this bring us full circle?"

"Perhaps." I giggled softly, then his look changed slightly. "What?"

"You know... I think I see the future sometimes..." Marilyn smiled gently.

"Oh, really?" I smiled back. "Do you ever see me any further than now?"

"Yes." Marilyn smiled down at me, cupping my face between both his long, slender hands; dragging his lips across mine lightly as he replied. "Forever, and always... Yes..."

And then the world melted away...

Yes, I've finished it here. I ran out of steam and this was the best ending I could come up with quickly. If I think of a better one I'll upload it later but, for now, it's so long to this particular story of mine. I hope you enjoyed the ride!

Much love to you all!
