Always Watching

" I am so happy that I finally got to see you up close, babygirl. I can't wait until you're finally in my arms and you can finally be mine forever- A".
I immediately froze.
"Who could this be"?
I knew someone was watching me. Oh this is bad, this so bad. I walk down the stairs to find my mom in the kitchen making something on the stove.
"Whatcha making momma?"
"My famous gumbo."
"Mmm, that sounds delicious... but I have to tell you something."
"Lay it on me."  She turns towards me giving me her full attention.
"Okay, so I've been feeling like I'm being watched for a while now but have always just assumed that I was paranoid. But today I got a text from an unknown number telling me that they were so happy to see me up close. I just need your advice."
"What I would do is text them that they have the wrong number and see if this person is going to text or call you again and if they do we will go to the police tomorrow and report it."
"Okay thank you. I'll be upstairs."
I went back to my room and texted the number back.
"Hey dude I think you have the wrong number."
I press send and go to put my pjs on. After about a minute I hear a ding on my phone. I pick up my phone to see a new message. It says,
"I don't have the wrong number my sweet Mariam."
My heart drops. I heard another ding. I'm scared to look at my phone. After a while of suspense, I look at my phone. The next message is,
"You looked so beautiful today ugh, the things I'm going to do to you when I finally have you to myself."
"Listen dude leave me tf alone."
"Now why would I do that sweetheart."
After this I ignored this person's text. I went downstairs to talk to my mom again.
"Mom the number texted me again."
"Okay sweetie we will go to the police tomorrow."
"Okay."
With that I went upstairs and went to bed. After what felt like a few seconds but realistically was a few hours I woke up to a noise out my bedroom window. I open my eyes to see a figure near my dresser. From what I can see the person looks like a male. I try my best not to alert the person that I'm awake. I close my eyes in hopes that the person in my room will assume I'm sleeping. All of a sudden hear footsteps coming towards my bed. Once they are at the side of my bed I feel him touch one of my curls and push it behind my ear. He then whispered "Look at my beautiful girl. I will have you soon very soon. But until then I know that I love you."
With that I hear his footsteps descend. After I was sure he left I opened my eyes. I sat up and contemplated what just happened. Am I going crazy? Why is this happening to me? I could sleep for the rest of the night, so I stayed up watching Netflix. When six thirty rolled around I got out of bed and went to the bathroom to take a shower. After my shower I dried up and put on an oversized Panic at the Disco shirt and black leggings and then headed downstairs. I wasn't in the mood to eat so I just sat on the couch until my mom came downstairs. When she came downstairs I went into the kitchen.
"Mom, I think there was someone in my room last night."
"What are you sure? Did you get a good look at them?"  My mom looks at me concerned.
"Yes, I'm sure and no it was too dark for me to see their face although I know it was a man."
"Okay well we are definitely reporting this to the police. Just go to school and I'll pick you up after I get off work."
"Okay."
And with that I went off to school. The day was pretty boring, nothing noteworthy happened. After classes were over I went to the baseball field to watch practice while I waited for my mom to pick me up. I decided to do the reading I have to do for English class when I feel eyes on me. At first I brushed off the feeling thinking that I'm just paranoid from the event that happened the previous night, but the feeling didn't go away. I turn to my right and then my left  and see a strange person in a black hoodie staring at me. Just then my mom calls me to tell me that she is here to pick me up. I gather all of my belongings and before I go towards the parking lot, I look once more to find that the person has disappeared. I get in the car and we drive to the police station. When we get there, we talk to the sheriff and I tell him what had taken place the night before. He proceeds to tell me, "Unfortunately with lack of evidence and you not having a clear description of the man that came in your room, we do very much for you."
"That's bullshit. The evidence is in front of your face." My mother exclaimed.
" Ma'am please calm down."
"CALM DOWN, YOU WANT ME TO CALM DOWN WHEN MY CHILD IS BEING STALKED. YOU KNOW WHAT FUCK YOU. I DON'T KNOW WHY I THOUGHT YOU WERE GOING TO DO YOUR JOB, BUT I WAS WRONG."
And with that we left the police station and went home. When we got home, I went upstairs to study. After about an hour I decided to FaceTime Carin and Syre. We have an hour and half conversation talking about various things including me and my mom going to the police station. After a while we hang up and I start to get ready for bed. I then lay in my bed and read until I start to feel tired. As I start to drift off to sleep, I hear my phone ping. I ignore it not wanting to open my eyes. But then I hear another ping which takes me out of my sleep. I looked at my phone to see two messages from the unknown number that say, "I see you went to the police about me. That wasn't very nice of you to do baby. But it's okay I forgive you. Just know daddy's always watching you. And know that if you go to the police again there will be consequences for it."
