"Are you okay? What's her name?" I hear someone ask.
"Angelique," Tessa answers.
"Angelique, my name is Sebastian. Are you okay?" He asks me.
Opening my eyes, I try to sit up, but I'm dizzy. I fall backward again, but before my head could hit the floor, Sebastian catches me in his arms. He lifts me up into his arms and is carrying me somewhere when I completely pass out again. This time when I came to, I was lying on a bed in what looked like the nurse's office.
"You awake?" Sebastian asks.
"Depends on if this pain in my head is real or imaginary," I answer.
"Hate to break it to you, but you hit your head pretty hard."
I look over at him and my mind suddenly goes blank. Because his looks alone could render any girl speechless. Let along the long brown hair and bright blue eyes that give him this presence when he looks at you.
Something about him speaks to me, which catches me off guard. Because I haven't thought about boys or even wanted to be this close to one. Which is mostly by choice after what Michael tried to do to me.
I don't trust the male species.
But Sebastian is different. And I can't my finger on why.
"Is something wrong? Are you hurt?" He asks me.
"No." I blush. Suddenly feeling self-conscious.
"I'll be back, I'm going to go get the nurse."
He leaves the room to get the nurse and they both come back a few minutes later. She checks me out to make sure I'm okay and hands me an ice pack for the knot on the back of my head.
"You'll need to ice this for about ten minutes before I can let you go back to class," she instructs.
The nurse leaves and I try to reach the knot on the back of my head, but I can't. My arms are too short. Sebastian takes it out of my hands to help me out, and I wince from the pain that darts through my skull.
"Sorry," he apologizes.
"I'm okay. It just hurts a little," I flash him a fake smile. "Thank you for helping me."
"You know you really shouldn't walk backward in the halls. It's detrimental to your health."
"The only thing detrimental to my health is you. What are you made of anyway? Brick?" I groan.
"Only the finest southern food this part of Louisiana," he answers in a terrible southern accent.
I laugh.
"Owe," I wince.
Note to self, laughter makes my head hurt.
"Five more minutes."
I'd spend an eternity with him in the nurse's office if I could.
"You a sophomore?" I asked.
"Do I look like a sophomore?" He replies.
"No."
"I'm a junior," he confides. "You just move here?"
"No. I've always been in Louisiana," I shake my head.
"This is your first day at Emerald Academy then."
"Yes," I nod. "Owe! Note to self... don't nod."
Sebastian and I both laugh at my expense. And his smile is ridiculously sexy. It should be illegal in all fifty states.
