The guilt.... (h)

A/N: The song above is "A soldier's memoir", and it's about PTSD. It's really sad... :(

Harry trudged to the joint Slytherin and Gryffindor Care of Magical Creatures class with his hands in his pockets and a sad smile etched on his face as he thought about all the things that had happened here, in this very place. Here, Harry rode Buckbeak the Hippogriff for the first time. Here, he and Hermione used the time turner to save the same hippogriff after he was doomed to be executed. Here, he met Sirius for the first time and Remus turned into a werewolf. Sirius and Remus....who would still be here is it weren't for him. Sirius, with his kind, joking nature and his motivational way of looking at life. Remus, who had a wife and a son, and was a caring father and husband.

As Harry thought about the two men, his thoughts soon drifted into all the people who'd died fighting for the light - fighting for "the apparent chosen one". Suddenly, the sun seemed too bright, and the birdsong too loud as his eyes glazed over, the string of thought having evoked flashbacks of the war.

Hermione noticed this and bonked him a couple times on his shoulder with her heavy hardcover copy of Hogwarts - A history

"Psst! Harry? Are you okay?"

Harry, who was snapped out of his stupor, distractedly replied

"Yeah, I'm fine. I need to go to the bathroom though, tell Hagrid for me would you?"

Ron, who'd also noticed the strange behaviour, pitched in with a "Yeah, mate, you know we're always here for you!"

Harry made a choked sob-like sound when Ron said the words "always" and only replied with a quiet "I...I have to go.."

And so the saviour of the Wizarding world ran, silent tears streaming down his face, not knowing that a certain blonde was watching.
