A/N- This started out as a really long oneshot but since I got too invested it's gonna be a full story.
I don't know how long the full book will be in the end but it'll be formatted in chapters/parts with a few thousand-word long parts in each chapter :)

This is basically every expensive headphones fic ever but I'm writing it anyway- And all of this is post-squip

RICH'S POV-

I walk up the gravel driveway of my house and towards the front door, knocking quickly to see if anyone's home. Who am I kidding of course no one was there. My Dad's off doing God knows what most days and my brother's staying with friends tonight so once again I've been left to myself. Not that I'm complaining, it can just get boring sometimes spending all your time alone.

I reach into my bag to find my keys, rummaging through my books but still finding nothing. It takes a full two minutes for me to give up on the keys completely, sitting down on the front steps with my head in my hands. As my frustration grows evident I decide to just stay with someone else for the night. It shouldn't be too hard to get a place to sleep.

Annoyed, I pull my phone out of my pocket and scroll through my contacts list trying to find someone I can stay with for a while. I open up a conversation with Jake but sigh as I remember him telling me he was staying late at school today for whichever one of the clubs he had joined now.

Back to scrolling I manage to rule out Chloe, Brooke and Jenna, they wouldn't want me staying with them and their parents would think they're weird for wanting to hang with the type of guy I am anyway. I end up with two options left, Jeremy and Michael.

I didn't know either one too well except from what I heard in the hospital and the few times they hung out with the group, but it was worth a try I just had to get the courage call one of them.

My hands shake as I dial Jeremy's number into my phone, half hoping he won't even pick up. I press call anyway, putting my phone up to my ear as I listen to the ringing, waiting for him to answer. After a couple more rings I hear the beep. Thank God he wasn't there. He was probably with his girlfriend anyway and I wouldn't want to interrupt.

But this still hadn't gotten me any closer to finding somewhere to stay. My only option left now was Michael. He seemed like a cool guy, a bit nerdy but cool all the same. I'd maybe even describe him as cute, not like I'd ever say it to his face, but he did have some charm. I always had found myself smiling along with him whenever we talked. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all.

I'm feeling more confident as I call Michael, with my phone at my ear listening to the ringing once again. He picks up surprisingly quickly and I can't help but smile when I hear his voice. 'Hey! Rich isn't it? We don't talk much, what're you calling for dude?'

Instead of worrying about the best way to reply, I just jump into my story explaining everything before I can hear him laughing on the other side.

He chuckled before continuing, 'Rich. Bro. Talk a bit slower won't ya, I can't understand anything you're saying right now'. I feel my face flush as he talks, hoping I didn't fuck everything up.

'Sorry, I just need somewhere to stay for tonight, I'm locked out and no one elthe ith home', I say, cringing as I let my lisp slip out.

I can hear Michael laughing again, and I start to worry about what he's going to say but before I can get too far into my own thoughts he replies. 'Yeah sure! my moms are out of town for the week so if you're cool with staying by ourselves you can come over. You want me to pick you up?'

My face heats up as I listen to him talk, he sounds excited and I can't lie, I am too. I tell him my address and he hangs up before driving over and picking me up in his legendary PT cruiser.

I keep my seat on the steps infront of my house until I see his car, jogging over to greet him. As I open the passenger side door he smiles at me and I can't help looking away as I notice I'm blushing again.

'Hey Rich! You ready for the best night of your life 'cause I'm gonna make sure it is! You like Mario Kart?' he laughs. I laugh too, his energy rubbing off on me and soon we're excitedly talking together about our favourite video games. It feels like I've know him my whole life even though this is the first time we've been alone together.

Soon we pull up infront of Michael's house and I smile as I get out of the car and follow him to where he's unlocking the front door.

'Welcome to the Mell household, make yourself at home!' Michael says, holding out his arms and grinning again before closing the door behind me.

A/N- The first part is done, hopefully I'll be able to write semi regularly for this
