Night Changes: A 1D Jukebox Musical Script

Preface

Before you begin the story, I just want to explain how this works.

This is a jukebox musical based around the songs of One Direction. A jukebox musical is when a story is crafted around pre-existing songs, like what Mamma Mia! is with ABBA's music. Not every 1D song is included, or else this would've been waaay too long, but I tried to work in as many songs as I could. 

When reading along with the playlist, it should take you about 2 hours to finish. Act 1 is a bit longer (little over an hour) and act 2 is closer to 50 minutes.

You can find the playlist of the soundtrack on my Spotify (@ab_costi) or on my YouTube account (Abigail Costi). It is important that you can listen to the songs in order. There should be versions getting put on Apple Music as well.

When you're reading, if you see words within [ ] or ( ), those are stage directions or actors notes. They would not be read aloud.

When you're reading, if you see this:

SONG #: TITLE OF SONG

that means that is the point in which I want to song to begin to be played.

When you're reading, if you see this:

Pause the playlist... begin it again at SONG #

that means to pause and allow yourself to read the dialogue. At times, there are songs written into the background of scenes. Those songs are not in the playlist because they are not sung by the characters and are not what is driving the story forward.

Some spacing may be a little funky in some places. I wrote this in Word and then copied it to Wattpad, and I did the best I could lol

Some lyrics are mildly changed. Maybe a verb tense of noun change to help the story make more sense. However, most lyrics were copied from the internet, and I tired to double check that they are accurate, but there might be points where I missed that a lyric is incorrect. If you are confused as to whether a lyric is changed on purpose or not, feel free to leave a comment!

The boys are character, but they are kinda not them. They are based on their stock characters they were within the band. The dialogue is definitely written with American slang. That is because I don't know how to accurately write British slang. The boys characters could be played as British/Irish or American. Whichever you prefer!

The story is set in an unnamed suburb in probably like 2013.

There is some cursing, but it is generally pretty innocent.

I don't own any rights to these songs, and as much as I want to be in a production of this, I'm not sure that it would be possible without the consent of those who do own the rights to the songs.
