The next half hour could only be described with one word: chaotic.
"What the fuck do you mean he's gone!?! You dosed him with enough wolfsbane to have him knocked out for days, how the hell does he just walk up and leave!" Ryder yells, trying to stand up. Using both of my hands, I manage to push him back to sit on the bed again.
"Don't stand up. You're leg is still broken and Dr. Hopper needs to set it back in place before it heals all messed up." I tell him, sitting on his lap, hoping that me being near him will calm him down.
Ryder growls loudly, shoving his head in the crook of my neck to inhale my scent. He takes a couple deep breaths before lifting his head to look at Jake again.
"I want him found, and I want him found now. If he is moving, there is no way he can get off the territory that quickly. Release all the pack warriors to run the woods, I want him and any other rogue killed on sight."
Jake gives a swift nod, "Yes, Alpha"
As soon as Jake leave the room, Dr. Hopper jogs in, "Alpha. Luna. I hope you both are doing well, all things considered. I'm just going to set this leg in place real quick..." The doctor quickly grabs Ryder's leg and with a quick twisting motion, the bone is back in alignment.
Ryder groans and I hold his hand as it's done. Now normally, doctors would be a little more gentle when resetting a bone. But, considering that Ryder is a werewolf and an alpha at that, the healing process begins quickly and we can't afford it to heal crooked.
Dr. Hopper wraps a boot over Ryder's leg and walks over to grab a pair of crutches from the closet, "That should do it. Anything else that needs my attention, Alpha? If not, here are some crutches for you to walk on for the night."
"No, Dr. Hopper. Thank you" Ryder immediately stands up, grabbing the crutches and putting it under his arms. I don't know how Ryder manages to walk with crutches and hold my hand at the same time, but he does as we make our way to the pack house to get our son.
We both walk in silence for a couple of minutes before I break it, "You know we are going to catch him, Ryder. If not tonight than later on, but the outcome remains. He is going to die and we are going to live happily ever after. No one is going to change that."
All he does and look down at me, smiling as he brings my hand to his lips, staring into my soul with those hazel eyes, "Forever and Always"
I smile back, "Forever and Always".
We walk into the pack house to see everyone in a frenzy. Children are running around being chased by their mothers, women are trying to find out if we are going to war and where their mates are.
I rub Ryder's arm, "They all can't stay here. They have to go back to their homes. I know you want to find Rico, but we can't have the entire pack looking for one person."
All he can reply with is a sigh, "This is why you are the better half."
Ryder mindlinks Justus and Colten to call off the manhunt, but keep enough people on guard in case they find Rico to take him down. Once he's done, I also mindlink the boys and ask that they bring the pans of food from the pavilion to the tables outside.
I stand on the counter putting my thumb and forefinger in my mouth, whistling to get everyone's attention, "Hey everyone. I'm sorry the Luna Ceremony didn't turn out the way we wanted it to. We are going to bring all the food outside to the picnic tables, please take food home for yourselves, your mates and your children and you all are free to head on home. Have a good night everyone."
The applause startles me for a second but a smile appears on my face, happy to see that the pack truly accepts me as their Luna again.
I hop down from the table just as I see Carter run up to me, "Mommy!" He yells, jumping into my arms.
