𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑺𝑶𝑼𝑵𝑫 𝑶𝑭 𝑹𝑨𝑰𝑵𝑫𝑹𝑶𝑷𝑺 pitter pattered on the street. It had been raining for a few days now. Everyone was rushing in and out with their umbrellas. Some were waiting under a roof and some at the entrance of their school.
Yamazaki Mari is waiting by the school entrance with hopes of the rain stopping. She woke up late today which led her rushing out of her house without an umbrella.
Mari had stayed after school for tutoring lessons. She was tutoring her best friend, Momochizu Nanami with her best subject, math. The two had been friends since junior high. As they are third years, their grades are very important for their future.
MOMOCHIZU NANAMI "mari-chan, are you going home now?"
YAMAZAKI MARI "no, I'll be staying here for awhile. I forgot my umbrella and my parents are working."
Momochizu Nanami halted in her steps after she heard those words. She turned around to see Mari with her brownish greyish eyes glued on a book, sitting on the stairs reading. There, she stood unmoving. The only time she moved was when a strand of her caramel colored hair fell down her face.
MOMOCHIZU NANAMI "mari-chan, we can share my umbrella if you want. I don't want you to stay at school for too long. who knows when it'll stop raining."
YAMAZAKI MARI "thanks for the offer nanami-san but it's fine. you should hurry and pack your things!
don't you have to pick up your brother from elementary school?
it's almost 5, and it takes you 10 minutes to walk there and it's almost dismissal time there too."
Nanami's eyes widened as Mari reminded her of the task that her mother handed to her this morning. Nanami shuffled around to pack her stuff quickly and slip on her outdoor shoes.
In less than five minutes, she yelled goodbye to Mari and waved goodbye. Mari waved back and resumed reading.
Momochizu Nanami was quite a forgetful girl. She paired perfectly with the quiet and smart Yamazaki Mari. Nanami was much more popular than Mari since she was able to socialize more.
