Natasha Green

"Natasha Green!" I turn around quickly at the the sound of my name being called. A smile spreads across my fave at the person in front of me.

"Adam!", I scream before running towards him and throwing my short arms around his neck. I have to stand on my tippy toes because he is a good six feet tall.

"How have you been? I haven't seen you all Summer." He exclaims

I have been avoiding the people I love since two summers ago. I regret it deeply, but they don't understand the pain I have been in because of the absence of my best friend.

"I'm good. I have just been reading and keeping to myself." I'm not lying when I say that. But I could have used my friends at a time like this.

"It's Laken isn't it? I know it's sad, believe me I know, but we need to move on. Don't you think?" Laken was so close to us, how can I just "move on", he doesn't get it at all apparently.

"What do you mean 'move on?' Laken went missing and no one has found him yet, nor did they even try to look" That's what I want to say, but I don't want the first day of school to be miserable.

"Look, I have to go to class. Talk later?", He says when I don't say anything. I reply  with a low yup and start to walk to my first class, calculus.

~

The first few periods flew past. It consisted of the same thing, a paper for your parents to get signed and bring back tomorrow being past around and listening to forty minutes of the teacher saying the rules for the class, which are the exact same for every single class. But don't worry we got another flyer on those past around also.

It is now fifth period which is lunch. I don't know if anyone I know has lunch with me, but it's worth a shot. I quickly scan the lunch room, but I don't spot anyone. I put my white backpack down on a empty chair and slowly walk to the lunch line. As soon as I reach the long line, filled with students anxiously waiting for their lunch, I feel a tap on my shoulder.

I quickly spin around only to be faced with a freshman named Ruby. Ruby is Adams younger sister, who I adore talking to because she always had a positive outlook on life.

"Hello Ruby, how are you liking high school?" I ask with a small smile on my face.

"It's eh. Very crowded, way more than middle school. Plus, the teachers ore meaner." She finishes with a disgusted look. I let out a soft chuckle.

"That, I agree with you on. So how's life so far?" I ask. I like hearing about other people's happiness, it makes me feel good.

"Life's been okay. My brother is coming out of his shell more recently. It's a great sight to see. I think he is finally looking forward instead of all the sadness from the past." She says smiling. Before I respond I move up on the line and grab a tray.

"That's great Ruby. I wish you both well okay?"

"Sure." I get my food and walk back to the table my bag was at. I grabbed a turkey sandwich and fries, which were extremely unsalted. I just pick at my plate because I'm not very hungry.

The lunch bell rings after another 20 minutes of just picking at my food. I throw out the tray, grab my bag and make my way to English.
