Arrogance (Part 1)

"NO! I want that Eevee!" Two children were fighting over a starter Pokémon, while their two best friends stood at a far distance. "Nuh-uh!" One child stomped her foot into the ground. "She's mine!" The other child folded his arms and stuck out his tongue and pouted, "No way! Gramps gave her to ME!" He screamed at the girl's face. "No he didn't!" "Yes he did!" "Nuh-uh!" "Uh-huh!!" The two went back and forth until an elderly professor his hands on each of their shoulders. "Now," he stated camly. "Calm down." He picked up the Pokéball holding the Eevee and studied its every feature. "You both are fighting for no reason." He turned to look at the two children, who merely watched him. "But Professor Oak!" The girl whined. "He lied! Green told me that you were gonna give that Eevee to him!" The boy, named Green, pouted. "No way, Gramps!" He turned to look at his grandfather, who was a bit annoyed at his grandson's behavior. "(Name) lied! She said that you were giving the Eevee to her!!" He pointed at the girl, who was adorned with the name (Name). "Green, (Name), I wasn't lying." The professor turned so that his back was facing them once again. He placed the Pokéball down and stated, " I have two Eevee's, actually." "Huh?!" Both the boy and girl looked shocked and pleased at these words. Two Pokéballs were presented to them, each flashing and then releasing a brown puppy-like being with beige fur around its neck and paws. Both smiled brightly and picked up their first Pokémon. "Now, here is your Pokédex and some Pokéballs and Potions to help you start your journey." When both had left the lab, Green spoke up. "My Eevee is better than yours!" "Oh yeah?!" (Name) challenged. "Let's battle!!" She pressed. "Yeah!" What happened next was a heated battle that ended with a tie. "I'm gonna become stronger than you!" Green stuck out his tongue. "We'll see about that, Porcupine!" (Name) retorted. That battle blossomed more than just rivalry, however.....

Both of you were ten back when that happened, though...and things have changed since then....
