MOON BALANCE

Chapter VI

I let her help me shift. I have had only one shift and I don't want to remember it.

My nails started to elongate and turn to claws. Furs appeared everywhere. My bones snapped and started reforming. My nose turned to a snout. I stood on all fours and growled at the pack. It shook the earth. My friends, or should I say my pack now, did the same.

The pack took steps back. They couldn't believe it and started to murmur. Some said that we were the prophesied wolves. Others said we dealt with a very powerful witch.

Someone came towards us and we growled at the person. The person said,
"So it's true. You are the prophesied wolves. The one with fire, the one with water and the balance."

This lady talking bullshit. Etta, you are our Alpha now. So what do you think we should do? Stella mindlinked.

We should leave. We don't have any business here anymore. I have my necklace.

Let's go. Winter said.

We turned and ran into the woods. They didn't try to chase us. We just found out now that we never belonged here. When we crossed border of the pack, I didn't feel anything. My friends and I are really a pack, I thought. Then, we stopped.

I have my own pack members, what else could I ask for. I howled and they howled too. Since the meeting of the Alphas is at the RoyalMoon pack, we have to go there.

A twig snapped then there was a gush wind. Suddenly, a lady appeared in front of us. She was hooded so I couldn't make out the face. This made me alert, she could be a threat.

She removed her hood and said,
"Hello, forgive my manners. I believe I haven't introduced myself. I am Ari, the witch that was brought. You should change so that we can discuss."

I looked at my friends, they shook their heads. I turned and shook my head. We don't know how.

"Oh, You don't know how to change. Thank Moon Goddess I brought clothes. Take these clothes and go behind those trees. Just imagine your human self. I will be waiting right here."

My friends and I went behind the trees. I imagined my hands, legs and body. I changed, it was less painful. I came out when I was done.

I asked her why she is helping us. She said that she was sent. That she has been traveling to packs searching for us. She is going to help us with our mission.
She told us that she rented a motel at the neutral territory. That we can discuss there.

We came out of the woods. She showed us a car and said it's our ride to the motel. We entered it. Ari entered the driver's seat.

"Wow, when was the last time I entered a car?" She asked excited. I thought because of the death of her grandmother, she would loose her bubbly self. But it looks like it didn't.

I can hear you Etta. Or should I say Alpha. What the use if I turn moody, granny wouldn't want it.

Stella continued,
"That reminds me. Winter, what happened? You left your uncle. I thought you didn't want to leave."

Winter turned away from the window and looked at us. She just shrugged and said,
"I forgot to tell you guys. My uncle travelled the day before the Alphas arrived. I told him to wait sometime before he comes back."

Ari turned into a driveway and stopped the car. It was in front of an eatery. She went down and said,
"I stopped by here so we can eat."

"Wow. Nice. I am starving." Stella said.

We came down from the car and entered the eatery. A waiter came and asked for our order. Ari ordered smoothies with hamburgers and fries.

"So how long have you been a witch?" Stella asked Ari.

"For close to eighty years, I think." Ari answered.

"Oh My God, you are that old. You look very young." Stella said her eyes bulging out.
Before Ari could reply, the waiter came with our order. I suddenly felt pressed.

"Um girls, I need to use the restroom."

"Okay but be very quick." Ari replied.

I got up and went to the counter to ask for the restroom. The blondie pointed to the left. I went and answered the call of nature. I washed my hands and came out.

Then, I felt an urge to go outside. I turned to go and my wolf warned me not to, but I brushed her off. I went out and saw a forest there. I ventured in and heard voices. I followed them until I saw a clearing. My wolf was very restless.
Immediately, the sweetest scent hit my nose. It's woodsy and also grapes. I looked into the clearing and saw a huge black wolf fighting a monster like creature. The creature turned and snarled at me. I got scared and ran back to the eatery.

I tried to restore my breathing and heartbeat. When somewhat did it, I went and sat down.

"Where did you go?" Ari asked me. I shrugged.

"Nevermind. Eat so that we can go. My friend sent a message that there was a monster sited here. Why didn't I notice it?" She scowled.

"A monster? Which monster?" Winter asked. This is surprising, because she rarely speaks. After what happened, it seems she has withdrawn more.

"So you haven't heard. There have been reports of monster like creatures called Goethe, attacking wolves. That is the reason for the meeting amongst others." Ari said.

"It's good to know that cause I'm going to that meeting." I said. I cleared my plate. It's been long since I ate good food.

Ari paid the bills while the three of us went to the driveway. She finished and came out.

"Is that not Alpha Damon?" Stella asked pointing at the eatery we just came out from.

"It's him. How did you know?" Ari asked her.

"It's just my intuition. And the Beta of the MoonBlade pack is with which means it is he."

I got scared. My mate is the Alpha of the MoonBlade pack, the leading pack in the North. Why Moon Goddess, why.

"If you guys are done talking. Can we just go?" I told them. He can't see me. I just came out of that horrible pack, I can't enter another immediately.

Etta or Alpha, what is wrong? You are so fidgety. Stella mindlinked.

We just need to leave here now.

Ok.

She turned to Ari and told her to drive us out. Ari turned to me, I nodded. She shrugged and started the car. She should be fast.

"Ari, can't you go any faster?" I shouted.
As we drove out, he turned and saw me. His eyes were black orbs. It looked like darkness and was cold. I am so screwed. I told Ari to go faster.

"Ari, I think you should stop the car. Alpha Damon is chasing our car. I don't know why." Winter said. She looked very agitated.

Ari stopped the car and went down to the back. She tried to talk to the Alpha Damon. I guess this is my chance to run away.

"I don't think that is a good idea. You can't run away from him. He is also your mate. I also don't want to leave my mate."

"But I just left another pack. I am not ready to be subdued by another Alpha. He would just try to force us to go with him or even reject us. Moreover he has a terrible reputation."

She didn't answer.I got out of the car and ran towards the forest.

"Where are you running to, Alpha?" I heard Stella shout. I didn't stop.

Alpha watch out!

I hit my head on a tree and blacked out.
