SATURDAY (1 WEEK LATER)

"Hey, it's Yejin. You know the drill; leave a message and I'll get back to you soon."

"Hey, Yejin. I just wanted to let you know that I'm going to be gone this weekend to visit family. I'll see you right when I get back." Jungkook said. He smiled for a second, then hung up.

🥀

Yejin came out of the bathroom, dancing down the hall to her bedroom. Yejin closed her door and looked in the mirror on the vanity. She realized she left her phone in the bathroom. With a sigh of having to go back out, she got up and went to grab her phone.

The female blasted more music as she let her towel go on the floor and allowed for her body to air dry. Yejin brushed her hair and blow dried it. The girl looked at all of the make up in front of her. Definitely out of her comfort zone. But she put on some liner and blush. And a little bit of BB cream.
Lastly, the girl got dressed and went downstairs.

"Are you ready to go to the laboratory?" Mr. Min asked, fixing his tie. Yejin nodded, "Yep, let's get going." Yejin and Mr. Min got in the car and drove off. Mr. Min played some of his favorite music in the car. Yejin looked out of the window, pretending she was in one of those K-dramas because it began to rain.

🥀

Yejin and Mr. Min walked into the building. The receptionist let them through. By now, Yejin and Mr. Min knew their way around the huge building. They walked down to the elevator area and went up to the tenth floor. Then, the two turned to the left to where there was a room made of glass. They went in and Mrs. Min sat at her desk- which was covered in paper and multiple different colored pens.

"There is something we have been waiting to tell you, Yejin. We wished to hold it off, but we can't anymore. It's something you must know." Mr. Min said. Yejin gulped, "Um, okay. What is it?"
Mrs. Min walked over, her hands clasped together, "Yejin, sit down." Hesitantly, Yejin sat in front of the two adults, worry in her eyes.

"We've learned that if you don't get home soon, you could change. You'll adapt and become who our Yejin was. You're losing yourself, and becoming a different you." Hearing the news, Yejin felt like the air was knocked out of her lungs.
"Is that why I've been seeing things your Yejin has done?" Mr. and Mrs. Min looked at her, concern in their eyes. Then, they looked at each other.
"How long have you been having these...flashbacks?"
"About a week now? I have one or two every day." Mrs. Min sighed, turning around. She raised her hand up to pinch the bridge of her nose.

"We don't have much time. You two have to leave now. We need to get this finished." Mrs. Min pushed the two out of the building and went on back to work. Even harder, this time. Yejin walked beside Mr. Min, twiddling her thumbs. Mr. Min tried his best to reassure her, but she was having doubts and now trouble identifying who she would be. Would she really allow herself to become what she doesn't want to become? Would she even have any power against it? Or would she just begin to forget and wouldn't even know she was forgetting?

🥀

"Finally, you're here. You've been so absent lately. I'm glad you showed up." Bora gave Yejin a hug. Bora pulled away, then looked behind Yejin. Her small smile went wide, "Hey!" Bora rushed past Yejin to give Taehyung a hug.

"Taehyung is joining us today. I hope you don't mind." Yejin smiled falsely, "Um, no, it's fine. It's okay. The more the merrier." Yejin said, clasping her hands together. She nodded awkwardly, looking up at the shining lights, then down and the reflective floors.

     "Great. Let's go."

About twenty minutes into the hangout, Yejin was left alone.

"You wouldn't mind if Taehyung and I went to the other side of the mall real quick to check out some clothes for him, would you?"
"And...I stay here?" Bora nodded. Taehyung shook his head, "Bora, Yejin can come. She's a part of this hang out also." His tone of voice was filled with empathy for the girl. Yejin shook her head, "No, it's okay. I have to go anyway. My...father is calling."

"You get home safe then, alright." Taehyung waved, a smile on his face. Bora took his arm, "Get home safe, Darling." And the duo walked off to the other side of the mall together. Yejin sighed, staring at her empty, dry phone.

"Hey, what are you doing here by yourself?" Yejin turned around to face the source of the voice. It was Jimin.

"Well, I just got ditched by my best friend. That's why." Yejin said.
"How ironic." Jimin chuckled. He stuffed his hands into the pockets of his pants, "So, you wanna get a bite with me?"
"What do you mean by ironic?" Yejin questioned, placing her hand on her hips.
"I was joking. So, would you like to go eat with me?" Jimin asked. He looked at her deeply, hope in his eyes that she would say yes.

"Yes. I'm starving." Yejin and Jimin hooked arms and walked to the restaurants and cafes in the mall.

🥀

"Mmmm, Jimin this is great. Thank you for bringing me here." Yejin moaned and groaned with delight. She ate as if she hadn't had food in months. Jimin chuckled softly, placing his chopsticks down, "You're welcome. I wanted to talk to you."

"Of course. What do you want to talk about?"
"What do you think of me?"
"I think you're an amazing guy. What kind of question is that...Jimin?"

"Jimin?" Yejin waved her hand in front of his face, trying to get his attention. Jimin looked up at Yejin, "I mean...what are your feelings for me?"
"Well, I love you. You're literally like my best friend. You were always here for me when I was so confused and Jungkook didn't want to accept me. You accepted me and believed in me."

Jimin's heart clenched. Friend. It was a bitter word to him. But that word was the answer to the question he'd been asking himself for the past week. The question that had been eating at him like a cancer.

     "Why are you asking?"
"I just wanted to let you know...," Jimin mustered up all of the courage he had, "I love you, too. Just...I love you more than a friend would love a friend. I know that you would never choose me. It was always Jungkook with you. From day one, it was him. I will respect that...and back off. But, I just wanted you to know...I love you."

Jimin stood up, "I already paid for us, don't worry about paying your part of the meal."

Yejin was left at the table by herself as the pink haired male walked out of the restaurant alone, putting his phone in his pocket. That was the moment Yejin had finally figured out why Jimin and Jungkook hadn't been talking to each other.
