There's an old expression that says that ignorance is bliss, and I'm inclined to believe it's true. Because on that late spring day, Wilbur was as happy as a pig could be. And those spring days rolled into summer days, days filled with endless conversation between the two unlikeliest of friends.

Over the course of that time, Kali, the twins, and the chickens would continue to come and visit Wilbur, Charlotte, and all the other animals, along with Fern. The kids would read the animals stories. One of the chickens' favorite was called "Animal Farm", being about a group of farm animals who take over the farm in hopes to create a society where they can all be happy, equal, and free.

Mrs. Arable thought Fern and the others were spending too much time alone in that barn, although the kids argued they liked it over there cause all of their friends were there and it wasn't at all lonely for them. The other adults tried to assure Mrs. Arable not to worry about it.

By now, Kali had told her cousin's the chickens' secret that they can talk and she agreed not to say a word about it to the adults. And even though the other animals couldn't speak to Fern like the chickens could, in a way she seemed to know what they were saying.

The chickens had tons of fun over at Zuckerman's barn with all of their friends. It reminded them of the times they'd visit they're cow friend Annabelle and her boy Billy back on that farm in Tennessee.

One time the chickens watched Wilbur attempt to make his very own pig web, although Charlotte suggested in the end that Wilbur better leave the web-spinning to her. The friends all laughed having fun together. The chickens also enjoyed watching Wilbur and Charlotte's friendship grow, reminding them of another unlike friendship between two different species, one being a fox kit and the other being a hound puppy.

One day, everyone was gathered together in the barn as something very exciting was beginning to happen...

"After weeks and weeks, and I'm talking about some long weeks of waiting and expecting, all the hard work has finally paid off" Golly announced.

Suddenly, a baby goose appeared from underneath Gussy then another. Gussy soon moved off her nest to reveal her goslings to everyone.

"Wow! Look at them!" Wilbur said, coming up to get a look at the goslings. "They were eggs and now they're... They're just, look at them!"

"They sure are cute" Etta said.

"Wow, Gussy, you did a really terrific job!" Wilbur said to the goose.

"They don't call me Mother Goose for nothing" Gussy gave a proud smile.

"Congratulations" Charlotte told Gussy from up in her web.

Ginger and Rocky both smiled, being reminded of the day their chicks hatched. The rest of the barnyard animals all cooed over the new arrivals.

Golly started boasting to everyone. "Yes, thank you, thank you! It wasn't easy, but I managed"

"You managed?!" Gussy suddenly glared at her mate.

Golly laughed, turning back towards his mate. "I'm kidding, honey. We managed"

The chickens then noticed Templeton appear in the nest counting the eggs, then noticed there was one egg that was still unhatched.

"Why didn't that one hatch" Ricky pointed out to the unhatched egg.

"Hmm. Could this be a dud?" Templeton wondered, coming up to the egg.

"Golly! Golly!" Gussy cried to her mate who rushed over protectively, finding the rat near their babies.
