The next morning, Lurvy came out to bring Wilbur his breakfast when he stopped in front of the doorway and stood there in shock at the most unusual thing he saw.
The chickens were suddenly startled awake once they heard a pail being dropped and saw Lurvy running off, yelling.
"MR. ZUCKERMAN!"
The chickens walked out to see what was so important and looked up in the doorway at Charlotte's web. And what they saw shocked them just as much as it did Lurvy.
Soon Lurvy came back with Homer and his wife Edith, along with Fern, Kali and the twins who heard the commotion across the street. Homer was so surprised at what he saw he dropped his kitchen knife which nearly sliced through Templeton, who was eating from the bucket of slops that had been dropped right in front of them.
The kids smiled at Wilbur as the pig came out to get a look for himself. Everyone just stood there in totally silence with their mouths all gaped open in astonishment as they looked to see that words had been written into Charlotte's web. It read "Some Pig"
"What's a 'so me pig'?" Lurvy questioned, reading it wrong.
"Some pig" Homer corrected his farmhand.
"It's a miracle" Edith said, while the chickens noticed Charlotte peaking out from the doorway. "It's nothing short of a bona fide miracle"
The Zuckermans decided to share this miraculous thing with all of their friends, and soon crowds gathered from all around to come and see Wilbur and the web. The chickens were sitting by Wilbur as they watched the crowd taking pictures and complimenting Wilbur.
"Um, Charlotte, what does a 'some pig' do?" Wilbur asked curiously, turning to the spider.
"This isn't for what you do, it's for what you are" Charlotte told her friend. "Some pigs might smile a bit"
Wilbur started smiling towards the crowd which made them applaud for him.
"Looking good, Wilbur" The chickens smiled proudly towards the pig.
Wilbur then lifted his head up a bit while he continued to smile at the crowd.
"Oh, the lifting of the head. Nice touch" Charlotte said to Wilbur.
The other animals watched the excitement from inside the barn.
"As ugly as that spider is, we should have known she was smart" Golly commented.
"So, you don't believe that someone might be smart and pretty?" Gussy gave that look towards her mate.
"No. Yes! I mean, yes, because you are" Golly told his mate.
"Where's the spider who did this?" A few people had asked Zuckerman.
"Well, we looked all over and couldn't find one" Homer replied, shrugging his shoulders.
Wilbur, the chickens, and Charlotte all giggled to that.
"Looks pretty good" Betsy admitted about the web.
"Yeah, but it still ain't going to change anything" Bitsy said. "He's a goner"
Betsy agreed with her sister before saying. "I'm glad nobody eats cows"
"I beg to differ" Nobby mumbled.
The crowds continued taking pictures, saying how Wilbur truly was "Some Pig". It even made front page news in the newspaper.
After a few weeks, the phenomenon of the web wore off. Nobody cared anymore, and what was amazing yesterday was suddenly ordinary again today. It looked like Wilbur might not see snow after all.
