Ren was kind. He never pushed me for information, though I could tell not knowing why I was in the woods at night worried him deeply. He seemed very caught up in the idea that those woods only invited danger and violence. In any case I was happy to be out of there.
He brought me food that morning, guessing I wouldn't have liked to sit and eat around a crowd of scoundrels; I was very thankful. If anyone could find me, it would be paid off roughnecks and thugs; I had been told hung around this area.
Ren would go back and forth to the dining hall of the Inn all morning. It began to make me nervous, 'what kind of information is he trying to get?' His momentary disappearances was not a good sign in my mind. Especially since he would look less pleased to see me, each time he stepped through the oak door.
"I can't stay here all day." He told me, sliding back into the room during the mid afternoon.
"I have places to be, I feel awful to pressure you into leaving but I can't pay for anymore nights for you." Ren explained, bowing his head in shame.
"Is there anywhere in the city I can take you?" He asked, "I'm headed that way." He added quickly.
"I'm afraid I don't know the city." I confessed. I felt abashed. I didn't know where I was or even where to go, London could be weeks away on foot and that was if I began to treck in the right direction; and Ren had to go. Would I just follow him? I felt more safe in the hands of this stranger, than trying to survive out there alone.
'We all know how successful I was trying to escape alone!" I thought. Evaluating my options, I decided to at least follow him to the city; make my own bearings from there.
"I would like to tag along into the city if you don't mind, have a look around while I'm here." I said. He smiled, "Sounds like a plan."

Ren packed his bags and within the hour we were ready to leave. Walking by the crowds of muscled men who started to fill the bar and set tables; I was glad to be leaving. Each one staring me down as I passed, most of their eyes fell to my clothes. Rather predictable really, I had been wearing my night dress from the night previous. I guess that was something I could consider hustling for in the city, a change of clothes may be necessary.
We started to stroll up the path, as he turned to me suddenly.
"I never asked for your name." He pointed out. Looking hopeful for an answer.
'Well it only fair I give him a name to know me by.' I thought, but I couldn't reveal my real name just yet. That would be too dangerous in the situation I found myself in. 'Perhaps a nickname, far less traceable.'
"Call me Fi." I replied.
"Fi." He uttered, smiling to himself.

"You're travelling?" I asked, taking notice of his bags.
"I was," Ren began "I wish to become a blacksmith. I have an apprenticeship waiting for me in the city." He informed.
'Blacksmith? I didn't know they still existed in the present' I thought to myself. He noticed my confusion.
"I know, I don't look bulky enough for that profession right?"
"No no, that wasn't my thoughts at all! I wasn't aware they were still a necessary profession in this day and age." I explained.
"I'm not sure what age you've been living in Fi, it's a craft in high demand." He responded in bewilderment.
'Strange,' my mind began to wander, 'did I hit my head so hard I fell back in time? No, that is ridiculous. I guess I've never noticed that people still made swords and armour.'
"What year is it?" I blurted, not considering how absurd it sounded.
Ren laughed, "You must have hit your head harder than I thought, it's the 2nd Age 4th Century." He announced.
"Right." I agreed, feeling even more lost than in the woods.
'What did I wake up to!'
