Hi! So, I'm writing this at midnight, with people setting fireworks off for god knows why, and I'd just like to dedicate this story to HollyDavidson3 because she's the most best friend you could ever ask for; but now that I'm typing this out I don't know why I'm presenting this to you nicely cause I'm pretty sure you might cry.
Consider this a birthday/Xmas present, Holly. No refunds. xxx

She's sitting at the table
Holly began to tap on the polished wood with her nails. It was obvious that she was was nervous; she had a scared expression on her face and she couldn't keep still. The table was covered in a stainless white cloth while over that were a vase with elegant flowers, two wine glasses, silverware and a bottle of champagne. Perfectly set.
The hour's the getting later
Outside, the sky began to darken. The few clouds in the sky were chased away by the dark night, a moon attempting to fill the space the sun left. Slowly, stars began to the sky. Holly wished it was the glasses that were being filled instead of the sky.
He was supposed to be here
Luke was always late, Holly knew that. That was the reason she told him to arrive twenty minutes before Holly was planning on their date to start. The waiter had asked if she was ready to place her order at least five times, all of when she refused and continued to wait on the Australian boy.
She's sure he would've called
Yet her phone remained silent. There it sat, in front of her face, screen darker than the sky outside. Holly constantly switched her gaze from the window facing the parking lot of the restaurant, the door, and her phone. She got a text from her friend asking how the date was going, which Holly didn't bother replying to.
She waits a little longer
It was almost an hour since Holly arrived at the diner. The waiter now less frequently stopped at her table until he all together waited for her signal to take her order. She could see him bluntly talk to his coworkers now that less people were filling the tables around her.
There's no one in the driveway
She watched as the parking lot was emptied. Holly thought of the irony of it; the lot was the idea of Luke coming, slowly being eliminated. A bit past the hour she arrived, all Holly could see was her own car and a few more, belonging to the two or three couples in the restaurant.
No one's said they've seen him
Holly tried calling Luke's parents. That was a long shot, since she was in America. In fact, there was no chance of that. Holly phoned his brothers, who informed her that they had only seen him in video calls. When she asked if he called them recently and told him where he was, she was returned with nothing.
Why, is something wrong?
Anyone would get worried if someone they loved was missing. For Holly, her feelings were a little more mixed up. Luke told her countless times on how he loved her, so she assumed he wouldn't have missed a date, especially one she was so secretive on, unless something urgent popped up. But even then, why not give her some kind of warning?
She looks out through the window
Nothing. There was nothing new that caught her eye, no familiar vehicle that was Luke's car. The only different between then and twenty minutes ago was the parking lot was that there were fewer cars parked.
