'The Bite' by ZeroWineThirtyThis book is out of this world! I must admit, when I first saw this book I debated reading it, guilty is charged. At this moment in time I think to myself what did the past me not see in this summary and book that present me sees, maybe it's the knowledge that I did not acquire then? I can only be thankful that I had made the right decision too read the book that disrupted my life, yes disrupted my life.
When I read this book only it took me one chapter to be engulfed into a world of fantasy and yet intrude on current issues that we are facing in the modern world. I was up all nights scrolling from chapter to chapter like a sugar addict and here's why...
Running from a treacherous past that is catching up to her Charlotte, the protagonist, finds herself in a less than delectable situation. With only so much money and on the look for a safe haven where one hopes to remain invisible to the outside world only to stumble into some trouble on the way to the peaceful life she sought.
Charlotte didn't bargain for a life where she thought one to be only a fantasy, where monsters lurk in the dark. Bitten into a world where she turns turn into creatures that are only described in bed time stories, she must come through multiple times and prove her self worth not just to others but to herself on the journey that is ahead . But her saviour is not far behind, especially when she is attacked by the one of the things that are considered highly threatening in the new world she has just unconsciously entered, Levi .
Levi reluctantly guides and introduces her into the world she is so new to and gives her the lessons she needs to survive. As they spend more time together they form a bond that can never be broken, what bond that is you must find out on your own.
The exploration of bonds seems to be a vital part of the story and lead to many resolutions. The bonds developed in this story you are able to sense as a reader, and it's amazing to live through that build up of knowing how the characters got there. One of the most heart warming scenes is a conversation between father and daughter; ''You're my pup girly, of course it's fine.'' Oh, let's just say there were tears involved.
Now do not take think this story to lack in action, oh how wrong you are if you thought that. Let me enlighten you, this story is full of deceit even from the ones we may consider friends, family or lovers, and you're on a whirl wind adventure with Charlotte just about in the middle of it all. Not all will be solved and handed to the characters on a silver platter. Charlotte, Levi and their friends and family will have to revisit the past in order to solve the mysteries of the past, present and future. They must be careful in who they trust and who they do not, pain will be experienced but the truth will heal. But I will also say this Charlotte is not to be messed with she is a representation of girl power:) Show em who's boss Charlotte.
In the darkest of times there is always light at the end of the tunnel, and she is guided by the light and supported by the friendships she acquires on her journey to happiness, salvation? Or is she?
Set in the modern world where werewolves with ferocious 'growls', vampires with 'entrancing' eyes and witches with power at the tips of their fingers all exist among many other creatures but remain hidden from the human community. We are introduced to a similar yet different hierarchical system where power means influence. Where species are divided into packs and covens. However what holds much importance in the book is family and friendship which I extremely respect, this being one of the many themes that run through the entirety of the book series.
There are countless of reasons why I take joy in reading this book, one being the constant question of what is going to happen next, which accounts for the sleepless nights I had whilst reading this book, I just couldn't turn away. In the first chapter of the book we are already faced with many questions pertaining the character and her past, the writer formidably embedding questions with in the readers mind, pertaining the first sentence. The questions forming in my mind including; 'What is she done with?', 'Is she angry, fed up?' If you do decide to read I'm curious as to what questions we raised in the first chapter for you, please do share.
The story does not give indicate to anything supernatural until further into the chapter: 'golden eyes', this I cherish as many stories rush into the main plot as one may call it and does not leave the readers guessing. This plot is what I see unpredictable and unravelling, and there are points in the story where dramatic irony takes place, where you anticipate whats coming and can only await the characters reaction.
The story never failed to surprise me or make me wonder what the next move would be.
I can guarantee you this series will make you laugh, cry induce frustration with the characters and most of all immerse you into a world where magic is in the air you breath and anything is possible. Isn't that what indicates a good story? So good that the characters emotions are channelled through you.

Authors Summary:
Charlotte is on the run from a troubled past to start a new life, turn a new page and begin again. Little does she know that the new life she is about to start, is one that is only supposed to exist only in fairy tales.
What was a minor decision put her in the wrong place at the wrong time; a decision that will be burned into her memory, a decision that forced her to fight for her life, a decision that will turn her into a thing of fairy tales- and it only took one bite.

Thank you for reading. I hope you will go onto reading this amazing series which has been an eye opener onto a new world. The story is in my Werewolf reading list and there's a link at the top of the chapter.
Once again thank you to @ZeroWineThirty for writing such an amazing book!!!!
There will be more chapters on this book where I will further discuss the topic of themes that run through this book, and the particularly well written, empowering and bad a** scenes. I will also write a review for the rest of the books in this series.
Please do take into count that those scenes will contain spoilers and that you only read if you have already read the book or you do not mind reading them.
