Hunter's POV

*tick tock tick tock tick-*

Mister alarm clock is really my only companion in this deserted place specially at this hour of the day or should I say night. It is past 12 am already and I highly doubt anybody will come around any time soon. Who am I kidding? It is raining heavily outside, slightly minimizing my opportunity to catch the local bus which passes by every 4 hours from here. *sigh* I guess it is gonna be another long night.

My stomach growled again, indicating the usual hunger that strikes me all day long. I stared at Mister alarm clock and started to count backwards.

1,2,3,4,5,6,7... right, it has been almost 8 hours, since I had my last meal at 4 pm which was 3 pieces of banana breads and a can of coffee. No wonder I am not feeling sleepy. But I sure as hell am bored and hungry again. Stupid stomach.

As I looked out on the other side of the glass windows, hoping to catch any customer or even any pedestrian, the only view that welcomed me was a dark empty road, with rain droplets hitting the ground like cold and sharp knives. Not a single soul will be out at this weather. No hope, not tonight. But that still doesn't allow me to close down the store and leave. I need to wait for the next person in charge after me, Shade. He will come in at about 2 hours later, right after my shift ends at 2 am.

I sat on the bar stool, leaning my elbows beside the cashier machine and resting my face on my palms. I watched as rain droplets sped down the glass window sitting opposite of me. Strong winds were hitting the glass simultaneously and causing a spooky sound giving me an eerie feeling, but I shrugged it off like a man right before my brain hit me with an idea.

Sketch book is still inside the last drawer - Oh Yeah!

Here is a thing about me, I like sketching, a lot. It's the only hobby I have left aside from listening to lit songs of course. I flicked through the sketched pages with a proud feeling in me, a content smile plastered on my face as my past years flashed right in front of me within a few seconds before stopping at a blank page.

I took a deep breath before gliding my charcoal pencil against the rough paper.

Minutes turned into 2 hours before I knew it and once again, the only sound that could be heard was the tick tocks of Mister alarm clock and the heavy rain drops.

*tick tock tick tock tick tock-*

A sudden sound of the store's glass door opening caused me to tear my attention from my art towards the person who entered. To my astonishment, it was not Shade, it was a customer? It is 1.58 am as stated on the clock.

The customer was in a hurry, I am guessing it is a girl. A rather pale and slim lady. Her over sized and soaking wet clothing did no good in hiding the fact that she was thin and according to her choice of dark clothes, she appeared sophisticated. She walked across the medicine section in a swift motion and checked every label. A part of me wanted to ask if she would like me to help her but before I could, she started walking towards me, I meant the cashier.

I quickly put away my sketchbook from the table and stood firmly before a packet of high-powered sleeping pills was aggressively smashed on the counter along with a syringe and a small backpack.

I looked up at the girl with a worried look, what exactly is she planning to do to herself?

Her dark brown hair was messily tied up in a ponytail, and she was facing down with her eyes staring down at the things she just attacked the counter with. She is short, her height reached my chest and her face was small. Her nose was red, and it wouldn't take a genius to guess that she has been crying, for a long time. Whatever reason she might be struggling with, pained me, it felt as if I could feel a sudden connection, I could feel her sadness and grief, frustration and anger.

I took so long assessing her features that I didn't realize that she was waiting for me to pack her stuff until she looked up at me with blood shot eyes.

*tick tock tick tock-*

My heart dropped down to my stomach as she looked at me with her hazel eyes which were currently covered in a layer of visible tears. Those hazel eyes...

Her eyes went wide as the realization hit her like it did to me.

She started to back away from the counter, slightly shaking her head in disbelief and my heart ached as I could see those eyes once again overflowing with tears which she has been trying to hold back.

'Don't leave, please don't leave me again' my heart started beating faster as I watched her backing away. At one point, her back touched the rack of peppermints and a few sachets fell on the floor.

Without wasting another moment, I walked away from the cashier in the effort to reach her. Oh, dear God, it has been 6 years, she is still alive, I can't believe she is here in front of me.

"Red" my lips let out a sob as I relived how it feels to call her, while walking towards her.

She shook her head with wide eyes and looked as though I was her nightmare, like she didn't want me to be here, when all I have ever wanted is her by my side. Before I could call out to her again, she turned around and sprinted outside. She didn't change at all, she still runs away from situations whenever they overwhelm her.

Pulling the door rather aggressively with both hands and escaping through the narrow opening. The sound of the store's door banged close, silencing everything else around me, leaving the store deserted. This time, I couldn't even hear Mister alarm clock, only my heartbeat ringing in my ears. I stood in shock and at a loss of being able to act, staring at the door through which she ran away.

She left, once again, without a word, just utter silence, no explanations.
