I catch a glimpse if a small person, hiding behind the pillar, sneakily looking out at my group as we talked. On a closer inspection, I can see that it's a girl, with a hoodie pulled tightly over her head, but when a strong wind blows, it's yanked right off her head, and is exposed for a second, until the girl realises.

'She's hot'' I think, before I can stop myself. I mentally slap myself round the head for thinking like that, and remind myself that these thoughts were a sin to my religion, and shunned by all my family, especially after what happened with Dipika, my cousin.

But I can't help myself.

I tell my friends I'm going over to the girl who is staring.

As I start to walk toward her, aiming for a quick flirt, just to see how she would react, I banish thoughts of self doubt and critism away for a bit. Its not as if I'm going to make out with her, am I? I'm just going to talk to her!

''Hey.'' I say, standing above her, giving her such a start that she drops her pile of papers, sending them fly around her like big, white, flower petals.

She makes a small waving circle with one of her hands, as she scrambles around trying to pick up all the papers before they blow away.

I think she is nervous. Is she a new girl?

I crouch down to help her, while continuing our 'conversation.'

''What's your name?'' I ask finally. I have to know more about this girl, who has already stolen my heart, only seconds into the new school year.

She suddenly freezes, and doesn't say anything long enough to make me wonder if this was a good idea, and I start to back away, when she looks up into my eyes with her piercing light brown ones, and say in a voice so indian and interesting:

''Shayleen. Yours?''

I'm thrown for a minute, at how even more beautiful she is close up, that she begins to look at me questioningly, so I get myself together and eventually stutter out:

''S-Saz'' I respond shakily. now me looking down at the floor, studying the ground at great detail like she did, then silently handing Shayleen the last of her papers.

Our hands brush together for a second, and I can suddenly feel the chemistry surging between us.

I look back up at her, smiling, and she attempts a half smile, looking like a lost princess from the depths of a fairy tale, emerging into the light for a first time, until her expression changes, and the blissful moment we shred between us shattered, and a expression covering her face again into one of conflict and worry.

''Um, I-I-I should go.'' She says, as if she had remembered something important, hastily securing her stack of papers in her arms, making sure they won't fall again, and walks away, not even looking back.

I try not too feel disheartened, and remind myself to ask her at the next opportunity to hang out or something, and make my way back to my friends, who were making their way to the canteen, so I ran to catch up with them, wondering why Shayleen had run off so quickly....
