"Here you are miss." A kind woman handed me my pumpkin latte. I nodded a thank you and blew on the top of the cup to waft away some of the steam. I looked around my favorite coffee shop, a few normal visitors, like myself, all sitting quietly and drinking hot beverages. I loved quite, mostly because I never get any. My father makes sure of that, I'm constantly being watched. Usually the places I'm being "watched" get attacked, by my fathers minions or other New York bad guys. It's exhausting. This was hopefully going to be different. I sat down at my favorite table and sipped my latte, listening to the idle chatter of the few people around me.

I felt that familiar chill down my spine. It was like my 6th sense, I always got a chill down my spine when something or someone unpleasant might arouse.

I looked around the coffee shop and took an internal sigh of frustration. Through the window was one of my fathers favorite minions: Sabertooth. Where is a dog toy and some kibble when you need them? The annoying beast waltz right in and sat down in front of me.

"So, Sweetheart. Whatcha doin in a dull place like this?" The beast cleaned up pretty well for the public but he still had a sort of mangy dog look going on. His eyes were hungry which made me uneasy.

"Drinking coffee, trying to get away from people like you." I said coldly.

"Come on darling, why don't we go someplace where we can be alone?" He asked, looking me up and down. Ever since I turned eighteen Sabertooth has been trying to make it with me.

"Leave, Victor." I snapped. His smirk grew into an evil grin. He reached for my arm but I quickly withdrew it, causing me to jump out of my chair.

"C'mon Ellen, I don't bite." He got up as well, starting to draw attention to himself. A man who had walked in after Sabertooth turned him around and held the collar of Victors shirt with his fist.

"Like hell you do Vic. I believe she asked you to leave." This man was equally as muscular and rough looking. Black shaggy hair and beard. This man also had a some frightening smirk, but not hungry like Victor. Vic shook him off and growled.

"This is none of your business Logan, she's with me." He turned around to face me again. Logan took the opportunity to drag him to the ground by the back of Victors jacket and pin him to the ground with his foot. He looked at me.

"You with this pervert miss?" His smirk was sarcastic and somewhat playful.

"Do I even have to answer?" I joked back.

"Thought so." He turned back to the struggling Sabertooth and dragged him outside the coffee shop, where they started to fight. Victor unsheathed his claws and attacked Logan, aiming to bite his arm. Logan unleashed claws of his own, long metal dagger like claws from his knuckles, three for each hand. The rest of the coffee shop had fled but I gladly watched the fight, I loved to watch villain get it from the local heroes. Especially a creep like Sabertooth.

After minutes of fighting, Sabertooth finally fled. Logan came back into the coffee shop, covered in bite marks and long gashes. I picked up a rag and jogged to be in front of him. He held up his hand for me to stop. I looked at him curiously until his wounds healed on their own, after a moment all signs of a fight were gone except for torn clothing. He took the rag from me and wiped his forehead.

"What is Sabertooth doing going after a pretty young thing like you?" He laughed, throwing the rag across the room.

"One of my dad's many lackeys. They won't leave me alone." I groaned. He chuckled.

"Who's your daddy?" I laughed hard and his eyes widened realising how he said it.

"Um, I meant who-" I cut him off.

"Magneto. You probably know him." I smirked.

"That's rough..uh" He ran a hand through his shaggy black hair.

"Ellen." I smiled up at him.

"Ah, does this happen often?" He chuckled.

"Every other day actually." I sarcastically laughed.

"Sure you're safe?" He asked, getting a little worried.

"I'll be fine." I smiled and lied as I slightly rubbed my recently bruised arm. Mystique decided to throw me against a wall two days ago. He gave me a skeptical look and nodded. He walked back outside and sat down on his bike. I followed him out just as he was reeving it up.

"See ya around, Ellen." He smirked then drove off into the cold night.

I walked back the way I came until one of daddy dearests cars came next to me. It was one of his usual day cars to not draw attention to himself. The driver was yes, a mutant, but with small powers. Not very useful. We silently drove back until we reached his Mansion near Westchester. I ran inside to greet the warm air of my "home" and venture to the kitchen for some late night snacking. I wouldn't really say late, it was only ten. My father came in just as I was comfortably eating some pretzels, he was in another one of his moods.

"Where the hell were you?" He snapped at me.

"I told you, the coffee shop, but I should really stop telling you where I'm going. Unless I want to be attacked again." I snapped right back. He raised his hand to slap me and I flinched. His hand didn't come down but his voice was raised.

"If you had powers of your own you could defend yourself! You are a disappointment!" He shifted to the other side of the room where he kept his alcohol.

"Maybe you should just kill me." I mumbled and stomped out of the room. I wish he would. He always sent his goons after me to watch me and "test" me to see if I would aquire mutant abilities. I never have.

"Maybe this year will be different." I said to myself as I looked at my calender. Only 25 days till Christmas.
