i waited for about a goddamn hour, he never fucking showed.

a woman at the front led me to my table, under his name might i add, and the waitress came to ask if i was waiting for someone. "yes, he told me he'd be here in about five minutes."

she came back five minutes later, and he wasn't here. "do you need more time, miss?"

"um, yes please. just maybe five more minutes?"

she gave me a sympathetic smile and a nod, then she walked off.

that extra five minutes? turned into an hour. i scrolled through my phone, looking up every probably thirty seconds to see if he was coming. people started looking at me weird, and then their looks turned into sympathy.

i'd texted him about five times, hoping maybe he was just stuck in traffic, or working late, but he never responded to my texts.

i started getting a sort of sick feeling in my stomach, it was probably embarrassment because of all the looks i was getting. god, i feel so stupid.

i started to get up, fighting back tears that threatened to spill from my eyes. i just wasted an hour sitting here for my boyfriend and he stood me up, typical.

some boy i've never seen before, sits down in front of me and runs a hand through his blond hair. "i'm sorry i'm so late, babe, i got held up in work and traffic is horrible right now." he announces kind of loudly, then quietly adds: "i'm daniel. go with it, yeah? whoever didn't bother to show up is a dick."

i go along with it, because he's being sweet and he's also the most adorable person i think i've ever seen in my entire life.

the waitress comes back and looks a little surprised to see the boy with me. "hi, what can i get you two to drink?"

we get our drinks, and then order our food. he introduced himself a little more, his name is daniel seavey, he came into this restaurant to meet up with a friend but cancelled when he saw that i was stood up.

he quickly denied that he felt bad for me, probably because he knew i was going to say something about that. "someone as beautiful as you doesn't deserve to get stood up." he said, which i blushed at.

when we were finished eating, he quickly offered to pay. when i asked him why, he only responded with a smile.

we left the restaurant and he offered to walk me to my car. i thanked him profusely for the night, for paying and for the amazing night. he put a hand on my shoulder before i could open my car door. "do you wanna know the reason i didn't let you pay?"

"yes, because i totally would've payed. i mean you sacrificed your entire night for me-"

"i didn't let you pay because i was hoping maybe next time you'd pay."

it took me a minute before i realized what he actually meant. "you mean..?"

"if you don't mind, i'd like to go out with you again. that is, if you dump that douchebag boyfriend of yours."

my heart nearly took flight. my boyfriend was quite a douchebag, he stands me up on multiple occasions and cheated on me but convinced me to stay. i deserve this, i deserve someone like daniel.

"yes, yes i would love to go out with you again sometime, daniel."
