Kai's father, Higari, was a working man. He was never in the house and he always got news late.

This was the time Kai's quirk bloomed. Well.. part of it.. He could read people's minds. Right after telling his childhood best friend, Hisaki, he liked the male gender as well, he read Hisaki.. -Hisaki's POV: that's kinda gross..- Kai's face darkens. "You really think that.. eh," Kai says, looking down. "W-What do you mean, Kai?" stutters Hisaki, looking a bit nervous. "I though you said you'd always accept me, now you think I'm a disgusting person, so much for what you call 'best friends,'" Kai states. Hisaki runs away, too scared to admit what he really thinks, leaving Kai all alone.. again. He walks home, sad, and turns on the TV, a live broadcast interrupts..

TV: BREAKING NEWS! PRO HERO FOUND DEAD!

We're sorry for the sudden interruption, hello, welcome on. The pro hero, "Static Mind," also known as Akari Asuma, has been killed in battle with one of the League of Villain members.

Kai turns off the TV.. "Of course, right when this day couldn't get any worse.." He walks to his room, tears in his eyes, slamming the door behind him.

Narrator (me): Kai is 8 at this time, his younger sister is 6.

-knock knock knock- "Big bro? What's wrong?" Riley says, worried. "Go away, Riley. You'll find out when dad does," Kai responds. She walks in anyways, jumping on Kai and giving him a big hug. "Get off me Riley!" shouts Kai. "But big bro.. I want to know I want to know!" Kai sighs, pushes her off, and leaves the room, hands in his pockets. "I did something I shouldn't have."
