I went home to cook.Yep.Cook.

I cooked two hotdogs and placed them in a container. I took a drink that Gerald would have brought to school tomorrow. I grabbed my bike and went to the park.

We've been doing this for almost a week now.

I've known her better since then. I learned that once every two weeks , her mom would go home to leave groceries. No wonder she could live this way.

“Here.”

“Didn't I tell you not to?”

“I don't want to.”

“Your mother already scolded you yesterday and the other day.”

“Let them be.”

“I'm fine.”

“When I learned that you only eat once a day , I promised that I would bring you food. At least twice a day would do.”

“You said that yesterday.”

“Even that , you said that yesterday.”

Then she smiled. I don't know but every time she smiles, I feel like I'm the kindest person on Earth. I don't even know why I'm doing this.

RING.

“Hello?”

“Bro where are you?”

“Why?”

“Let's play ball.”

“I'm doing something.”

“Darn it. That's what you said last week. Come on.”

“I'm sorry but—“

“Hello, Nathan?”

When I heard that voice , I froze. I know who owns that... I know it too well. She's the woman I loved three years ago.
