I sigh and throw my breifcase in the passenger seat of my jeep and slam the door. I turn and head back up my sidewalk to my house, heels clicking along the pavement with each step. "Fuckin heels." I groan. I don't know why I chose to become a lawyer, I don't even know why I picked this case. I was better off just staying the farmers daughter. But then again I'd still be alone, in the fields all day doing crops, milking cows, getting all covered in cow shit. I hate being alone. My father was right. Who want's someone who's a good fighter. I mean it could be viewed as a red flag. But whatever.
I check the house door to make sure it's locked and grab my coffee cup from the table by the front door. "You're going to be my bestfriend for this trip. I hope you like my lips on you constantly." I laugh at myself. What the hell am I thinking.

"Keep right for Minneapolis" the sign above the freeway states. I Have no idea why I'm even doing this. The traffic is horrible. I mean shit, Madison is bad but this. This is ridiculous. A van swerves infront of me cutting me off."You dumb ass!" I throw my hands up and grab the steering wheel again quickly as my car slightly turns to the left. "I need an alignment. This piece of shit isn't worth anything, maybe a new vehicle?" The blue tooth on my phone connects to the speakers. "Incoming call from Sam". I press lightly on the touch screen to confirm the call.
"Hey!" Sam's voice fills the jeep. "Jesus Sam I'm driving. I told you I had to go to Billings today." I reply turning down the sound. "Shit. I thought that was next week! Garrett's having his party tonight I was gonna ask if you were going to come but never mind. Where are you right now?" Sam asks. I look at the clock four twenty two. Then at the GPS. "Um. Almost outside of the cities finally made it through all that bullshit." "Jeez. Did you eat? Or take anything to snack on?" "I had a salad at olive garden back in Eau Claire, and three bread sticks, coffee of course because I have to be at court representing at three on thursday. And I have to get my shit together." "Chloe it's Tuesday you have all day tomorrow." "Sam I don't care, I have to be ready, this mans life depends on it." I growl and slam my hand on the steering wheel. "Well I guess, I'm gonna go get ready. Call me later?" "Of course." "I love you be safe." "Of course Sam." I hang up the call. I miss Sam. I havn't seen Sam in alittle over two months. She's been taking care of her son, and working all the time.
I finally focus on the road and realize I'm no longer near the cities. Infact I don't know where I am. I look at my GPS on the dash and realize it doesnt even know my location. I look around. Bean feilds. "Of fucking course!" I turn my turn signal on to pull over to the side of the road.
I fidget with my GPS only to realize it's no use. I've always hated Minnesota. I look at my phone and see that I don't even have service, and my battery in on two percent. I reach for my purse and slam my hand on the breifcase. I put my head down and saulk. "I forgot my fucking purse, I'm lost in the middle of a fucking bean field. There's no houses near." My voice gets higher almost to a scream "And my phone is almost fucking dead with no god damn service!"
I turn off my turn signal and head back on the road. "This road leads somewhere."
A few minutes pass and I look down at the clock. Seven thirty four. Still haven't passed a town or anything. Not even a house, atleast I don't remember seeing one. I follow the road a little longer and a green sign pops up. "Everest Fifteen." "Finally!"
I shake with excitement. Worst mistake ever because now my bladder feels like it's going to burst. I floor the gas pedal and the jeep leaps forward. A few minutes later I feel the jeep Shutter as all of my lights come on. "Fuck."
I panic and pull over to the side. I see some smoke from under the hood, and I smack my steering wheel. I put my hand up to the ignition and the vehicle dies. I shake my head in anger turning the key off.
"For fuck sake! I can't catch a break!" I pop the hood and get out walking to the front of the jeep. I pull the hood up and smoke billows out.
I throw a mini tempertantrum as my heels click the road. Tick tick tick tick tick. I pick my leg up and reach down and grab my heel tossing it to the other side of the road. A few seconds later the other heel follows. I look back to where I came from. Nothing. I scream. I turn the way I was traveling and off in the distance I can make something out. Not sure what it is but it's moving.
