I walk upon the crumpled remains of the old swing set. No one ever played this park, I don't know why. My parents, teachers and their friends never tell me much about our city's past. All I know is that it was dark, dangerous and infested with evil. They tell me never to roam around these parts of the city but I do so anyway. I guess my curiosity has taken over me. I find a space in the park to lie down and watch the sun set behind the mountainside. The pinks and yellows from the sun's light stained the once blue sky. I couldn't help myself from dreaming what is beyond here, beyond our little city. I sigh. All this dreaming was pointless unless I actually decided to venture out there, which I know would never happen. I would die straight away, I don't know how to survive alone and bringing along other people was a preposterous idea. If any of my relatives ever found out I had been roaming around THIS far from the city they would probably lock me in my bedroom and secure my windows with iron bars. They are generally good people it's just that they are extremely over protective. It definitely freaks me out at times but I gotten used to it, well most of it.
I was about to head back to the city when a bright glow caught my eye. I made my way towards it. The object felt cold in my hand as I felt along its ragged edge. The lock it opened would break open mysteries. Foreign signs lined its smooth surface. They definitely weren't from this time or era. Looking around just to make sure no one was watching I hid the key in my pocket. It bobbed around as I ran through the abandoned area, to the place where I stayed. A sense of hope dawned on me as I turned the corner of Jenkins Street, maybe this key would lead me out of there.
