This story was inspired by a contest that was hosted by Wattpad's fanfic hosts.  I'd seen a Halloween contest they were doing, where they gave nine or so different prompts for story ideas, and straight away my head filled with ideas.  I loved the prompts, they looked fun so I thought yeah why not use them for a short fanfic.  Originally this story was supposed to be a short book.  I had several ideas of how I could have done it.

My first thought was maybe I should do  a collection of mini stories with each prompt, but then as I started the book it started to feel and look different to what I'd planned.  I then decided that maybe it should be one whole short story, a prompt for each chapter.  That would make the book nine chapters long.  But things changed again as I began to edit the first chapter on a commenter's advice.  The whole concept and story changed and instead of something short, it became part of a series to another fan fiction I am working on.  Because I added saba's character, who would be a part of the focus on the series I had planned before this book.  But the plan was to keep using the prompts and try to fit them in, and scatter them in the story.  And so the story kept writing itself getting longer and longer.  With the prompts buried within a novel length book.

since the prompts are scattered in the book, I thought I'd give you the prompts here, and you could see if you can spot them as you go along.  They are more or less near the beginning of the book, and since there's only nine prompts and 29 chapters, well they only go so far.  But I do hope you enjoy reading this book and finding the prompts as you go along.  So with further ado here are the prompts from the Halloween contest for fanfic writers during the year I started this book.

1. Write a chapter in which a character bobs for apples.

2.  Write a chapter that takes place in a graveyard.

3.  Write a chapter where someone smashes someone else's pumpkin.

4.  Write a chapter where a character attempts to scare someone.

5.  Write a chapter where a black cat crosses a character's path.

6.  Write a chapter where a character mistakes someone's identity as a result of their costume.

7.  Write a chapter in which a character eats too much candy.

8.  Write a chapter in which a character fails at carving a pumpkin.

9.  Write a chapter where a character tells a scary story. (I think I forgot to add this one to the plot of this story.  but I do like this idea.  Which is a shame).

So those are the prompts I used, which prompts can you spot and where? I hope you enjoy reading this book.  Don't forget to vote and comment.  I usually respond to all my comments, and really appreciate when people vote and comment too.   And now that we have gotten that out of the way, turn the page to read the story.
