My feet trudged to damp earth, my flashlight shining. I was back. I shined my torch at a fern tree, which swayed in the icy air. I took three deep breaths, and ventured on, turning different directions, knowing I would find him again. I came to a stop when I saw the outside of the bathroom. Gathering up the courage, I entered. The tiles on the wall were dirty white and the smell lingered of moss and soil. Damp grew on the walls, with mould encrusting it, taking possession of the wall. I put my torch forward, and saw two directions. I walked forward and went left; the same tiles seemed to be mocking me, laughing at my complete loss of direction. I came into a room that I recognised. A large, tiled room with a single wooden chair placed in the corner. Sitting on the chair was a girl. She was around six years old, her hair dirty blonde and tied in loose ponytails. Mud and blood smeared her face and she was wearing an old-fashioned pinafore dress with dried blood coating it. She was swinging her legs on the chair. She looked up and smiled at me, as if I was her saviour
“Hello Cathy” She smiled. She spoke beyond her years.
“How do you know my name?!” I said cautiously
“Let me explain” she began
“I am a victim of the Slenderman. He found me in this very forest in the winter of 1867. My parents had abandoned me because I was simply too expensive to keep. He found me and did..horrible things to me..unspeakable things that an adult should never commit to a child. Before he killed me, he made me draw eight pages of drawings about him and he scattered them around this forest. He then killed me. He found you when you when you visited this forest on the sixth birthday for a picnic with your family. You don’t remember this because he wiped your memory. He then decided that he’d enter your dreams, and near your fifteenth birthday, he will enter you into his game. Every night you must find my pages, before he finds you. When he finds you, you will wake up. The next night you will start all over again until you find all eight. Be warned, each night he will hide them in different places. If you find all of these pages, you will set me free.
Please Cathy Cedarwood, please help free me!” She explained. I stood there for a moment in stunned silence. So this is what I was bought here for.
“So he killed you..and then..he has your soul or something..?” I asked
“Yes! That’s what he does, every generation he does the same thing, alas, some of the children before me were never set freed, and forever they will be his” She replied, a sad smile on her face
“so there are eight pages?” I questioned
“Eight. Find them all he’ll leave you alone., you will leave a horror-freed life and my soul will be saved” She confirmed
“And if I don’t?” I whispered
“He will continue to haunt your nightmares until you find them all” She replied solemnly
“Oh, and another thing. When you die, you’ll become his too. Your soul will never move on” she stated.
“I must go now Cathy Cedarwood, but remember, he will find you when you least expect it”
She gave me one last smile before vanishing. I then knew what my nightmares where for. I knew what I had to do.
