Hannah's POV

The cab wobbled left to right, continuously bumping along the dirt road and interrupting my make up session. Holding the small mirror in my hand firmly, I applied more gloss to my lips and smacked them. I always noticed Vincent staring at them. That meant he must've liked the lip gloss.

So technically you're making yourself pretty for him.

That was a daring assumption. I wasn't trying to look pretty for him. He had invited me to a party and it would be courteous to look my best. We delved further and I looked at the location stamps on the concrete slabs that we would occasionally pass. My insides tightened when I noticed the street lamps reduce in number the further we went.

"Are you sure we're heading in the right direction, Miss?" The cab man asked, looking at me through the rearview mirror.

"Yes I'm sure."

He shrugged. "If you say so."

I could understand his distress. Surrounding us were thick trees shrouding the rays of the moon in the sky. Soon we escaped the dark canopy the trees created and arrived at another concrete slab that had the location I was looking for. Standing next to it was a street lamp with a flickering bulb. Flies roamed around it, almost shielded the small amount of light it emitted. Exiting the cab, I took out my phone from my purse and turned on my location. A strange feeling pooled in my stomach and I needed to know that if anything went south, Ashley would be able to see my last seen location.

Stepping further past the lamp, a group of cold breeze brushed past me, the family of trees ahead rustling their leaves and swaying their branches. The clouds above grew heavy and lightening boomed in the distance. It could rain. But what bothered me was the lack of anyone in the vicinity. Vincent said it would be a party.

Ahead, the forest called my name, beckoning me to come closer. I gulped. Maybe the party was happening there. Since he said it was a land opening party, it could be possible.

Girl, are you crazy?

Most likely. I glanced around, nearing the forest. My heart drummed in my chest as I scanned for Vincent. Drops of rain gently touched me and I rushed to a nearby tree for cover. It was drizzling, but with the way the thunder boomed in the air, I knew a heavy downpour was about to come. I wrapped my hands around my shoulder and roamed my eyes about. My chest tightened when I spotted a figure in the distance.

Lightning struck behind them, a menacing aura wrapping the air, their face glowing green. Wait, that mask. It was familiar. The person was dressed in an all black suit, a green cat mask on their face. They raised their hands and placed a phone on their ear.

My phone buzzed. Reaching for it with shaky hands, the screen glared white with one name. Mr Black. I gulped. There was no party. I was the party. I was the game and he was going to hunt me. Predator and prey.

Shit.

I hadn't ticked it off in the contract. In fact, I didn't tick anything off. Wait, he had mentioned buying a piece of land. Did he buy it just for this fantasy? Did he buy it just for me?

The thought sent blood to my cheeks. My fingers trembled as I rested the phone on my ear. What was he going to say? For a minute, he stared at me from afar, his rough breaths sounding through the phone.

"Run."

My primal instincts flooded through my veins as I pushed off the bark of the tree, turning into the forest and letting it envelope me. Flaring heat consumed my chest, the expansion of my burning lungs sending tears to my eyes. The rain slapped heavy against my back, water from the earthy soil, splashing against my white gown.
