I walk down the stairs and into the living room.
"So, you're staying with Luke for a while?" Asks Ashton.
"Um. Yeah."
"Cool," he says with a sideways glance at Luke and a hint of a smile.
I relay Jo's message to Michael. He laughs. "Okay then."
"Hey, lads, we better get going. Luke and Annaliese probably want to rest," Calum says.
"Bye love," Ash says and hugs me.
"Bye."
After the guys leave there's a bit of an awkward feeling in the air. I sit across from Luke.
"So."
"Why did you come to Australia?" There it was. The big question.
"Well I've always wanted to travel the world, and when I turned 18 I came here. Well, a few days after, but still." Not the complete truth, but still.
"How long you planning on stay here?"
"Well I love it here, so probably a few months."
"Really?"
"Yeah. Look, I'll pay you if you want-"
"Oh, no. No, I don't want you to pay me," he interrupts. "Having you here is payment enough." Wait, is that flirting?
I try flirting back. "Well you letting me stay here made this entire trip worthwhile." Yeah, I've never been good at flirting.
He smiles. "Oh, hey, give me your number just in case."
We exchange numbers.
"Really, though, I can't thank you enough for letting me stay here."
"Hey, don't worry about it."
"Well I think I'm gonna crash. It's been a very eventful day," I say, yawning.
"Okay. Goodnight love."
"Night."
As I fall asleep, I realize I'm starting to fall for Luke. "No, you can't," I say to myself.
But my last thoughts before I fall asleep are of him.
