Janet was waiting for Brian to return home after his shift when it got late, and Brian didn't come through the door Janet started to worry.
When the phone rang late that night, Janet jumped before answering; she had a feeling something was wrong.
Janet: Hello.
Nurse: This is Morgan from Los Angeles Community Hospital your husband, was brought in we got your number, from his phone you, are listed as his emergency contact.
Janet: Is he ok?
Nurse: He is in surgery right now, but once you get here, you can talk to the doctor.Janet: I'll be right there.
Janet grabbed her purse and keys before leaving the house and getting in the car. On the drive to the hospital, all Janet could think was let him be alright.
When Janet got to the hospital, she went to the front desk and asked where she could find her husband. The receptionist told her his room was on the third floor, room 307.
Janet arrived at his room and saw him lying there covered in bruises and cuts his chest and leg were both in bad condition he looked terrible he was hooked up to a heart monitor and had an IV in his hand.
Janet walked in and sat down next to his bed; she reached out and took his hand. Brian slowly opened his eyes and turned to look at his wife.
Brian: Hey, beautiful.
Janet: Hi, baby.
Janet just looked at him and started to cry.
Brian: Hey, don't cry; I'm ok.
Janet: Brian, this is not ok look at you.
Brian: Hey, I'm fine, it's just some cuts and bruises they'll heal.
Janet: Brian, you were shot in the shoulder.
Brian: Everything is fine; I'm here, I'm alive.
Janet: You should rest; we can talk later.
Brian: How's Mike he was the one who found me?
Janet: Umm, I'm not sure I'll go and see if I can find out.
Janet got up from the chair and walked into the hallway as she, was headed to the desk, she saw Gabby at the end of the hall talking to the doctor.
When the doctor walked away, Janet saw Gabby sit in the chair in the waiting room and break down. Janet walked over to the waiting room Gabby looked up and saw Janet standing there. Gabby stood up and hugged Janet.
Gabby: He's gone, Janet, he's gone.
Janet: I'm so sorry, Gabby.
Janet and Gabby sat together for a while before Gabby said she needed to call her mom and check on the baby. Janet went back to Brian's room and saw the doctor talking to him.
Brian: Hey doc, this is my wife, Janet.
Doctor: Nice to meet you; I was telling your husband that he needs to stay for a few days before he can be, discharged.
After the doctor left the room, Janet sat back in the chair beside her husband.
Brian: Did you find out if Mike is alright?
Janet sat there she couldn't look at him how was she going to tell him that he died saving Brian's life.
Brian: Janet?
Janet: Sorry, what did you say?
Brian: I asked about Mike.
Janet took Brian's hand in hers and looked into his eyes.
Janet: Babe, I'm sorry, but he didn't make it.
