-Midnight

It was another cold night despite it being the beginning week of summer break. The little girl sat with her knees to her chest crying on her bed. She wept every night before going to bed ever since summer started. Her room was only a bed, a drawer, and a window that faced her. Finally one night someone came to fetch her. The monster under the bed came out with open arms. But at this point, the little girl's voice was gone from all her sobbing and could only manage out tears of terror and self-loathing. She tried to reach out for the monster, perhaps hoping to sign her fate, but instead, she was greeted by a dozen thornless roses as her fingertips and face. She fell down in confusion and looked up to the monster. It wasn't what she expected to look like. It was a tall slender man in a suit wearing a simple mask with horns. The flowers that were before her seemed to be connected to the monster for some reason she would never learn of. She tried to ask what he was but only cracked croaks came out. Ashamed, she began to tear up again and curl up into a ball. She lay there quietly sobbing on the edge of her bed. Then like every other day she fell asleep soaked in her tears and blood from her wrists.

-Afternoon

It was the afternoon when the girl woke up. The sun glared at her through the window. She peeled herself from her bed and sat lifelessly staring at the sun Finally, her eyes felt blinded enough and she turned away. The tired girl left her bed and crawled to the door opposite her. There sat her food tray with a glass of water beside. She began to drink cold water. It trickled down her sore and dry throat. The feeling of a sharp object traveled from her back to her neck. She looked back at her bed, expecting to see the monster trying to kill her but instead saw the flowers that were rooted in the monster. The girl dropped the glass of water onto the floor, glass shattering into her knees. As always she cried but still crawled across the large room to the flowers under her bed. The little girl cried in agony and clenched the roses even tighter. The flowers drowned in the overflowing tears and reflected the light of the deadly sun. Like clockwork, she fainted from the excessive pain. Her small body lay there with blood.
