Chapter 8:

Police sirens erupted into my ears as I watched my mom be hand cuffed and put in the back of the police car. Her face turned to me and looked at me as the police car drove off. She had no sign of regret. She knew what she was doing and she knew what she would get herself into, but she didn't care. Not one bit. I sat on the cold cement porch with a blanket around me. I stared at the spot where the now gone police car was at. I heard someone walk over and sit next to me.

"Hi, I'm Detective Lackey (not even sure if that's a name, but oh well) What's your name, sweetheart?" I stared off into space letting my thought intrigue my brain.

"Scarlett," I turned to look at him. He had dark skin with stubs of hair on his chin, "Scarlett Mitchel." He looked at me studying my face.

"Well, Ms. Mitchel, do you mind if I ask you a few questions?"

"No." He opened his notepad and click his pen.

"O-" I cut him off before he could even finish saying 'okay'.

"But, only if I can ask you a few questions myself." He looked up from his notepad and looked at me.

"Okay." He rested his hands on his knees signaling for me to go on.

"How did you know to come here?" He looked at me for a while before answering.

"Scarlett, I've passed by your house a couple of times while walking my dog, and I would hear loud screaming and things being thrown around. I called it in before, but they said there was nothing I could do about it since I had no proof nothing was really happening. Then, I got a call, a while ago, from your friend, Vinny. He said he seen proof and marks of your mother hitting you. I then called it in, and they said they would come and see if anything was wrong. That's when my partners, Officer Hayn and Grean, showed up. They were the people who took your mom away. They called me in to ask you questions about your mom." I sat there trying to take it all in then I looked towards Vincent's house. There he was standing at the end of his yard looking at me. I stood up as he slowly started walking towards me. I ran towards him as he wrapped his arms around me. I cried holding onto Vinny like he was the only thing I had left. And then I thought about it, he was the only thing I had left.

"Shhhh.." He would sooth me as he rocked me back and forth in his arms.

-So this is the end. Well.. not completely the end.

I have an epilogue to show what happens to

Scarlett and Vinny. Anyways, Bye!(:
