1 week before winter break

Pansy (pov)

I was in charms class. We were reviewing some spells we had learned. I was pretty excited about finally getting to celebrate Christmas. Finally class ended and I headed towards the great hall for lunch with my friend Daphne Greengrass. She was beautiful, with long blonde hair. Boys and girls seemed to be attracted to her everywhere she went. We were going to the great hall when we noticed a few students gather around a notice. We went to see what was going on. The school was holding an end-of-the-year ball for years 5 and above. I was excited but then I remembered all the stuff you have to do to get ready and the worst part of it all finding a date to the ball!

Finally, we got to our house table. We sat beside our other friend Millicent Bulstrode. Who was already there waiting for us? Daphne started talking with Millicent about the ball. I grabbed a plate of porridge and started eating not paying attention to what they were talking about. I looked around the hall quickly my eyes wandered around the hall. The Christmas decoration had already been put up, with an exception of the tree which would be added later on. The ceiling looked like a snowy wonder. Everyone seemed to be in a cheerful mood, the younger ones about going home and the older ones for the ball. My eyes darted to the other side of the table. Draco Malfoy, the Slytherin prince talking with his group of friends. 

I had a crush on Draco during my junior year. I used to have heart eyes for him till 4th year but then I realized that it was not worth wasting time on something which wouldn't happen. While being lost in my thoughts I realized that I was staring at him. I quickly looked away without any second thought, not trying to remember those old times. I finally listened to what the girls were talking about. I asked the girls what were they wearing to the ball. Both of them did not have a dress for the ball. Daphne suggested we go shopping on Saturday. Both me and Millicent agreed. We finished our lunch and I headed towards my next class when I felt an arm around my shoulders. I immediately knew who it was. 

Blaise Zabini. Cunning, smart, and handsome something I wouldn't admit to him. He was pretty popular among the houses. Blaise and I had been friends since we were kids. Our parents were good friends so I spend most of my childhood with him.

Pansy: What do you need?

Blaise: Nothing much. Did you hear about the ball?

Pansy: Yeah. Who are you going with?

Blaise: About that... Has anyone asked Daphne out yet?

Pansy: Not yet... Are you planning to ask her?

Blaise:......

Pansy: Do it fast then you don't know when and who will ask her out.

Thanks, pans. See you later.  "Find a date if you can" he shouted. 

I rolled my eyes and walked towards my next class which was Herbology which we had with the Gryffindors. I walked to the greenhouse alone thinking about what we were going to do today. Professor Sprout said we were going to be working in a group of  4 for today's class and as always I was alone. Daphne and Millicent had some other work so they had talked to Professor sprout about not being in the class already. I made eye contact with Professor Sprout and she looked around the room to see if there is any spot left in the group. She pointed towards the right. Of course, It had to be their group.
