Third Point of View

Y/n knew it would happen one day. Just that she didn't expect it to happen so soon.

The male and the female holding hands like it was their last time together. The loving gazes sent to each other. Everything. Y/n was no idiot to not be able to understand the small gestures, and shy smiles that were exchanged between the two.

It hurt like hell watching the man that she loved—loves being lovey dovey with someone like her.

"Y/n are you alright?" Nejire's soft voice comes from behind her. Y/n shakes her head, the tears dripping down her cheeks like crazy. She was trying her best to be strong but a simple question like that made her heart quiver in pain.

Nejire softly sighs and wraps her arms around Y/n, her warmth giving Y/n a sense of comfort and belonging. "It hurts a lot." Y/n whimpers, her fists bunching up Nejire's shirt. A loud clap of thunder rumbles in the sky and the pouring rain only adds to the sad atmosphere.

"Everything is going to be okay, Y/n. I promise you that." Nejire whispers, feeling her own tears well up.

If there was someone who knew Y/n best, it was definitely Nejire. She knew of her past, her hobbies, likes and dislikes, love interests, and much more to the point it was as if she was a mirror of Y/n.

When Nejire found out about her interest in Tamaki, she screamed in joy, imagining what it would be like if she were to be dating him, creating mini scenarios full of love. It made Y/n feel bliss knowing there was someone who supported her love for someone else unlike others that only tried to put her down.

"I'm so sorry, this is all my fault. I shouldn't have said what I said." Nejire sobs after the apology slips her mouth. Y/n shakes her head and pulls away from Nejire's embrace, wiping away the tears from her face and looking her in the eye.

"It's not your fault. It never was. I was too naive to think someone like him would want someone like me. I was foolish enough to fall into my own fantasies without realizing that the real world isn't the same." Y/n stands up and walks towards the dresser where a picture was placed.

"Remember this picture? This was the time we went on that camping trip. I was foolish enough to fall into a trance thinking this was something more than a mere camping trip. And I regret keeping this picture ever since because it only reminds me of the thing that I thought would happen." Just the thought of looking at the picture made her heart ache in pain.

When Y/n first met Tamaki, she didn't see him as anything but a shy child. For some reason she was attracted to him, wanting to become his friend that would at least get him to talk.

It went from wanting to work with him during class projects, eating lunch together, playing together during recess, even walking home together but even so, that wasn't enough to crack him out of his shell; both slightly parted ways during middle school.

That is, until high school came around. Mirio, who she was friends with since babies, had introduced her to Tamaki although both knew each other already.

That itself made Mirio happy, hoping the two became close friends after knowing her futile attempts in the past.

Now that Y/N had Mirio for support, she tried her best to open Tamaki up, asking him small questions here and there or offering snacks to him as a coin of friendship, but even so, he didn't dare do much but let out a small peep. By then, she had long given up on trying to open him up, but the girl was wrong.

She did open him up to people.

All of her hard work had paid off when Nejire became her friend. Tamaki was the first to greet her without Y/n having to tell him what to do. Y/n was surprised yet happy that he was taking a step further out of his shell.

That alone made her happy and that's when she began to speak to him like a friend would, pretending like the past never existed.

Slowly but surely Y/n began to develop odd feelings for Tamaki. At first she tried to brush it off as her being confused but the more she spent time with him, the more these odd feelings began to grow.

Month's later, she accepted these feelings as those of love. She began to feel happy at the sight of Tamaki whether he was with her or with others. The happiness she felt whenever he spoke, when he competed against others and graciously won, even the mere sight of him made her happy.

The small habits of his and undenying love for butterflies made her feel ecstatic. By then, she had told Nejire of her feelings for Tamaki and Nejire fully supported her for it.

And the day that Y/n decided to confess her love to Tamaki, someone new crashed into his life, snatching him away from her like a rag doll. Tamaki slowly began to drift away from her, spending more time with the new person and even going as far as ignoring Y/n's signs and gestures of acknowledgement.

"Out of all people in this world, why did it have to be someone like him? WHY?" Y/n sniffles, dropping to her knees as the frame in her hands begins to get wet with her salty tears. Nejire crouches down in front of her and wipes her tears, before picking her up and placing her on the bed.

Nejire gets on the bed and holds Y/n close to her body, "I'm sure you'll find someone much better than him, Y/n. I'm sure of it! Now, please stop crying over someone who doesn't deserve a wonderful person like you." Although Tamaki was a friend, Nejire would always pick Y/n over him. That was how much Y/n meant to Nejire.

"You don't understand. . ." Y/n's cries slowly become muted, fatigue washing over her, a sense of numbness felt in her body. Nejire caresses her hair and leaves a small kiss on the crown of her forehead, wishing Y/n a good night before heading off to sleep in the room next door.

Once the door is closed, one last final sob of pain leaves her lips, a wave of regret washing over her for not telling Nejire about what really was going on but she couldn't tell them. Not because Y/n didn't want to, but because something was stopping her from telling anyone.

That girl that snatched Tamaki away from Y/n wasn't just any girl. She was someone with a hidden quirk that Y/n discovered by accident and she used it on him without batting an eye.

It was her ability to prevent people from saying certain things and the ability to brainwash someone into loving her for as long as she desired—just like a rag doll.
