Iman's pov🦋I was awoken by light tapping on the window. I slightly opened one eye, not feeling compelled to fully get up at all. I was really exhausted. I closed my eye again and attempted to go back to sleep. That's when the knocking became way more vigorous, I almost thought the window was gonna break.
With a groan, I reluctantly got up. The guy from earlier was by the window. He looked at me with an impatient look on his face. I rolled my eyes, realizing that I'd have to give him his car back. That nap hit different though.
I moved my hands around the backseat, struggling to find the keys to the car. When my fingers finally grazed pass them, a small smile appeared on my lips and I picked them up.
After unlocking the car, I threw the car keys to the stranger. Which, to my surprise, he caught with ease. "good catch." I rose a brow, genuinely impressed. Well, only because I'm quite bad at catching things when there's no sport involved.
I grabbed my bag from under me and swung it over my shoulder before leaving the car. I tried checking my phone for the time but it was already dead by now "shit." I cursed under my breath.
I looked to the guy next to me and saw that he was on his phone. "Yo, what time is it?" He looks up with a startled look on his face, as if he couldn't believe I was talking to him. He realized that I was waiting for him and he finally glanced at his phone to check for the time. "Um, it's 6:35" he stated, looking back up. I nodded and leaned against the car.
I didn't realize how awkward it would've been when I woke up from my nap. I thought it would be quick and I'd just thank him then leave. But I didn't know how to say thank you or exit. I couldn't just leave without saying anything either.
I finally turned to him, grip firm on my bag strap due to nervousness. "Hey, um, thanks for the- for letting me, like, sleep in your car." I mumbled out like an idiot. I didn't really have that much trouble with talking to strangers, so I found it annoying that I was having trouble articulating now.
He stared at me for a while, just blinking. I didn't know what to do, or say, so I just stared right back at him. At this point, it was becoming way more awkward. I just wanted a hole to open up underneath me and for me to be sucked into it. I was definitely not a big fan of awkward situations. After a while, a small smile played on his lips. "No problem." He shrugged as he fiddled with the cigarette packet in his hand before putting it in his pocket.
That was when I realized two things; one, he was quite attractive. Lord knows why it hadn't really occurred to me till now but I guess I had a bunch of other things on my mind. two, I didn't even know this guy's name.
"Oh! What's your name? You never really told me." I brought up sort of awkwardly. Although, I would admit that the smile he had given did a good job at making me feel a bit more comfortable talking to him.
By the look on his face, it seemed like the whole introduction thing had slipped his mind too "Where are my manners? My name's Joel. Full name is Joel Aguillard. Not telling my middle name because that information is way too sensitive to be entrusted with a stranger." He joked, his demeanor visibly becoming a bit more relaxed too.
I laughed at what he said. What a funny way to word the fact that he had an embarrassing middle name "Dude, you entrusted me with your really expensive car. Which, by the way, stupid idea. I think I can handle a middle name." I reasoned. I let out another small laugh at the look on his face when I made my point.
