In a clearing about a half a mile from the nearest house, they sat on the on soft dirt staring up at the sky, mindlessly fiddling with the old silver pocket watch they got a year ago.

The morning dew was getting their black jeans wet. They didn't care though. They didn't care if their dark grey t-shirt got dirty or if their black shoes got muddy.  There was finally some calm after all the chaos in their life. After moving, leaving everybody, after the fight, and the new estate.

Their mind wandered back to the area around them.

The sun was just barely peering through the bottom of the maple wood tree in front of them. Taking in the fresh air, they closed their eyes, laid down listening to the world around them.

A loud snap breaks them out of their trance, eyes bolt open bringing them back to reality, as they jolt up. They turn to the side and stare at the the large elk standing alongside them.

The tall elk grunted and then slowly turned and walked away onto a trail on the left. They stood in shock. Then, on some instinct, they ran after it.

The elk went from a slow walk to a sprint in seconds. A raven cawing in the background as they dash through the trail after the deer. The tree tops began to cover the sky, barely showing hardly any sunlight at all. They began to lose the deer.

By the time they got to the clearing the elk had somehow disappeared out of sight.

Slowing to a stop, they attempt to catch their breath, they put their hands on their knees, panting heavily. After about a minute or so, they stood up. Peering around at their surroundings. Another clearing in front of them that they had never seen before.
