YAY! ITS FINALLY FRIDAY! I thought to myself as the final bell rang for school to get out. I couldn't help but rush down the crowded hallways of my school to get to get to the front entrance of the school. I wanted to get out of this hell, yeah I know school isn't the worst thing in the world, it was just all the people that came with it that made it hell. Ironically I have come to believe that among the humans, vampires, werewolves, elementals, dragons, etc, there could be a demon or two wondering the school's hallways but no one seemed to notice or care.
There was only one person in this hellish place that I could trust and that was Amanda, aka Miss Pyro Kitty I always called her with her being a fire elemental that I turn into a cat of all things. Not all elementals could turn into animals but she could. I always teased her when I first found out about it by making the most ridiculous puns about fire and cats but I have slowly stopped, well kind of.
As I finally fight my way through the crowd to the front door, I see the devil herself, Miss Pyro was standing by the doors, waiting for me.
"Hey Meg," she says as she sees me make my way to her.
"You ready to go?" I ask.
"Yes, please," she replies as we make are way outside. "I can't stand being here another second."
"Tell me about it," I say as we start walking out the door. It was a nice sunny day, even though it was almost the middle of october, it was nice and warm.
"Like, this school is full of annoying people who don't know how to mind their own business and just decide to continue bugging you even though you've asked them to shut up five times already."
"...Well someone had a bad day."
"Actually today wasn't that bad."
"Of course," I respond, rolling my eyes at her.
I look around the parking lot at the front of my school for my dad who was parked just a little to the left from where we were standing and we make are way to the car.
"Hello girls," he says as we get into the back seat.
"Hi dad."
"Hey Mr. Dake."
"How was school today you two?" he says as he starts the car up and starts heading out of the parking lot.
"It was annoying, I had two quizzes and a test today," I said, still being annoyed by it.
"Oh Meg, that's not that bad," says Pyro, smirking a little.
Pyro aka Amanda, has always loved going to school since the beginning of time for all I know. I have always disliked it, especially the math part of it while she loved math the most. I sometimes wonder if she was ever brainwashed or something.
"Says the straight A student," I said, rolling my eyes.
The car went silent which wasn't abnormal. I liked the silence sometimes.
I stared out the window watching all the houses around the school fade out to stores and restaurants then from that to trees. The house we all lived in was a good distance from town. It was hidden in its own little forest of trees and the closest neighbor we have was about a mile away. I loved how secluded it was, it was the perfect place to practice all kinds of magic without really anyone knowing. On the downside of it though, if a fire were to break out because of said magic or some crazed demon were to come this way, then no one would hear us scream... But something like that would never happen... right?
The car finally came to a stop as we pulled up into our driveway which pulled me out of my thoughts. As I got out and grabbed my stuff, I couldn't help but shake the feeling that something was going to happen soon, I had always got these feelings when something big was going to happen soon. I would always get this chill up my spine and I could never shake off the anxiety of the "big thing" happening until it happened. It was a very annoying feeling and half of the time the "big thing" was good, but of course on the other side of the spectrum, a bad thing would happen.
Stop being so paranoid Meg, I told myself as I walked into the house with Pyro and dad. It's Friday, you had a long week at school and you should just relax.
Immediately after we all walked in, dad went down stairs to relax and try to get some work done. Pyro and I go upstairs to our rooms to set our stuff down and then head for the kitchen to get snacks to eat while we did some homework. I hated doing homework on a Friday night but all I had was a few questions for math to get done, so it wasn't a big deal.
Pyro just grab a bag of potato chips and some water and headed back upstairs while I made some popcorn for myself and grabbed myself a soda. Once the popcorn was done, I headed upstairs and started work on my math homework while having my phone play some videos on YouTube going on in the background.
Even though it seemed like a decade passed when I finally got the math homework I needed done, maybe not done well but done, I grabbed my sketch book out of my backpack and started doodling. I always got frustrated with my way of drawing because it seemed like I never improve but, I go back and look at my old sketches from a year ago or so and I can see that I was improving.
I started to zone out while listening to Youtube play while doodling when I heard a small dink on the window. I paused the video and looked to the window, another dink was heard I could barely see a small pebble bouncing off of the window.
"What the hell..?" I mumble as I walk to the window.
There was a man standing there, with multicolored eyes. He is wearing a white top hat with a multicolored ribbon tied around it. He has a white tailcoat suit with black dress pants and shoes. From what can be seen, he also has dark hair tied back with multicolored ends.
"Aww shit not you," I say, facepalming.
Madness. Literal Madness. The very thing that makes chaos. Why the fuck was the entity of all things mad here, I didn't have a clue. It had been a LONG time since I saw an entity.
There were only four entities. They were the very things that were created at the beginning of the universe. First came Darkness, then Light, then Madness and finally Death. This is the most simplest way to explain the entities without going into some really deep stuff.
As I look at him, he makes eye contact with me, grinning. He laughs and points at a dead tree in the yard. I look at the tree, seeing nothing there and as I turn my head to look back at him, he is already gone.
"What the...? Why the the...?" I mumble to myself, confused.
The dead tree in the yard was a tree I accidentally struck with lightning when I was very little. It was when I was starting to get my powers of arcane and all so I didn't really know what I was doing. But, why would Madness waste his time coming to me to just point at some tree? To make fun of me? That I haven't a clue. At least not yet...
I stare a little bit longer outside before going back to my doodling in my sketchbook. As I draw a bit more, I start to hear the piano downstairs start to play. Pyro was practicing again which I didn't mind. I pause the video I was currently half watching to listen to her as I continue drawing. She finally stops and not even a minute after the last chord died out, a loud knock breaks the little silence that came over the house. That "big thing" was starting.
