When a Noob falls...

Chap 2-First day of school

Nick POV

I had a really long night but thankfully didn't oversleep. I have a big day ahead of me and I rush to get myself ready and dress accordingly because first impressions are always the most important.

And if I have a shot of making new friends, being late won't take me anywhere. So before you know it, I had eaten my breakfast, gave good byes to my parents, my mum kissed my forehead against my protests.

"I'll be fine Mum, I'm not going anywhere dangerous, it's just school" I say trying to get out of her grasp but to no avail.

"But school can be dangerous sometimes, sweetie. First days aren't always easy, but I believe you'll have a good one, Ok? Love you baby.." She said giving me another kiss, my mum is so........motherly sometimes! but she does really care. So I wave my final good byes and get to the bus stop. And in no time the bus arrives and I start my anticipated journey to Corn burry junior high, not to mention it's my first time going to a high school, I don't know if I'm ready for all its drama...

Anywho! I'm at the school and it looks good and I pep talk myself and find the confidence to walk out the bus and go to the principal office for my locker keys, schedule and all that and the process goes smoothly.

I walk into homeroom, and look for a seat and can't seem to find one. I see a girl with jet black hair and glasses arguing with guy with a similar hair color and braces sitting behind her. To her left sat a guy with red hair covering his face but to her right was a vacant seat so I resorted to sit there. And after what seemed like forever she finally finished her argument with the other guy and I was able to get her attention last.

"Oh-um, I didn't see you there! Hi um Nick, is it?" She said adjusting her glasses.

"Yeah, but how do you know my name?" I puzzled.

She froze...... but scambled with her words to put to together a sentence afterwards.

"Oh-Uh we haven't officially met, ofcourse. I mean this is the f-first time we're meeting, EVER hehe. But anyways I, uhh....... happened to see the principal's list of new students and I saw your name and picture there....so that's how I know you?" She said, the last part coming out more like a question.

"Okayy-" I said deciding to drop the topic and end her misery "-since there's no need for me to introduce myself, what's your name?"

"Jennifer Shope, but my friends just call me Shope" she said smiling at me.

Something about her was oddly familiar but I couldn't make out what?

I was distracted out of my thoughts when the teacher came in and started talking. Me and some other newbies briefly introduced ourselves and the school day began. The lessons I had thereafter were ok, nothing too hard in math class; it's the first day after all...And soon it was time for lunch, which can be a newbie's worst nightmare........oh boy...

I'd talk to a few other people too today but I don't think it's safe to say I've made any friends so far.

Then on a bench at the back I saw that Shope girl, with who I assume are her friends, eating their lunch. The 3 guys were all playing with their food and I could see her eyeroll from a distance. I guess that means she's the only rational one in the group...

Nonetheless, I make my way there and when I get there attention, I speak up nervously.

"Is it ok if I can sit with you guys?.." I asked.

There was silence, but the black haired boy spoke up removing the celery he put in his nose, kind of gross, but funny in a way.

"You want to sit with us??!" He asked clearly surprised.
