Evelyn's PoV
"Why don't you invite her over for dinner?", Addie asked, while pouring herself a glass of orange juice. She had already eaten a few hours ago and only joined me for breakfast because she apparently felt like bickering about wanting to meet Ashley.
Her auburn hair was tousled from her sleepless night caring for Lilian. The little one had caught a cold and couldn't breath properly and thus couldn't sleep through the night.
"I've told you before: She's not interested. She wants our thing to be somewhat professional. No emotions, remember?", I answered, pouring myself a cup of coffee. This morning I couldn't really care to add sugar or milk, wanting to taste the caffein as it entered my system to hopefully fasten it's effects.
It was Thursday already and I was severely overtired. Lilians cries had not only woken up Addie throughout the night but me as well.
"It's unfair that Tim got to know her and I didn't", Addie said, pouting while sipping on her orange juice. She was leaning against the counter, giving me puppy dog eyes that didn't quite work.
"He didn't get to know her. He just drove her a couple of times", I said, rolling my eyes, while grabbing a muffin from it's opened package on the counter next to Addie.
"And I bought shoes with her!", Tim announced, while walking into the kitchen, obviously in a hurry. He was fidgeting with his tie, while his shirt was only partly tucked into his trousers. His hair was a mess and his eyes were droopy. He grabbed a muffin, took a bite and ran right out of the kitchen again, hurrying upstairs while mumbling something through his full mouth.
"And he bought her shoes", I repeated, sighing while Addie whined about wanting to go shopping with Ashley too.
"I just want to see her", she begged, "and talk to her."
"It's the talking part that makes me worried", I stated, taking another bite from my muffin. Trying not to laugh at Addies desperate attempts to change my mind into letting her see Ashley.
The sugary muffin wasn't my usual nutritious breakfast, but it was delicious and this morning that mattered more to me than being healthy and eating good foods.
"Oh don't be a killjoy", Addie said, grinning. She sat down next to me, mustering me. "Have you seen her at all since you went no contact?"
"No, but I plan to stop by after work", I revealed, earning a high pitched squeal from Addison.
"You need to tell me everything tonight!", Addie said, grinning hopefully.
"Absolutely not", I answered feeling my cheeks blush heavily.
Addie and I moved the conversation to the kitchen table, sitting down to continue our morning in peace, when Tim rushed into the kitchen again. His gaze fixated on me while he shook his head slowly.
"I forgot I didn't need to pick you up", he said, chuckling. "I still have time for a coffee, right boss?"
"Of course, come and sit with us. Tell your wife she won't be meeting Ash", I said, glancing at Addie to see her reaction.
She didn't disappoint.
Her squeal was even louder than the ones before.
"You have nicknames!", She exclaimed, grinning from ear to ear. "That's so adorable!"
"It really isn't", I said, "It's just something friends do. Y'all have nicknames for me too, remember?"
"But we haven't had sex with you", Addie said, still grinning. "There's a difference."
