"You never call me anymore. I miss you."
Rolling his eyes, Alex sighed. " Don't overreact. I literally saw you two weeks ago." Alex scanned the room for something that will distract him from the boring conversation ahead. "Jess and I come and visit every other weekend."
The man on the other side of the phone call sighed. "You guys never stay long. I guess y'all just don't wanna be bothered with ya old man huh."
Alex went silent while fidgeting with the string on his hoodie that was on his bed. The man on the other line chuckled while Alex didn't crack a smile. It's not that Alex didn't love his dad. They got along great actually, but being the gay son of a raging homophobe caused a damper on the relationship.
Alex knew he shouldn't feel guilty for his sexuality, but he can't help feeling like a disappointment.
"Have you found a girlfriend yet, Alex?" The older man laughed. "I bet the girls are all over you. You are my son."
It's the same question every phone call, every visit home, every single conversation. No, Alex doesn't have a girlfriend, but he sure as hell is crushing on someone's son.
"Yeah, I am." Alex forced a chuckle, "Look Dad, I gotta get going. Homework. See you next weekend." With that Alex hung up the phone. He let out a dramatic sigh. Thoughts of coming out to his dad played in his head. Waves of embarrassment, guilt, and self pity flooded his mind.
"Fuck!", Alex shouted standing up to chuck a pillow across his room. He let out a shaky breath as he sat back on his bed. The tears started to flow with no sign of stopping. He harshly wiped them away while cursing himself for getting this upset.
Before he knew it, there was a knock at the door. It was Jessica. It's always Jessica. She could always feel his emotions. He opened the door and saw his curly haired twin standing before him.
"Hey do you want to go to this party next week-"
"I'm gay."
