ONE AFFAIR, MANY LIES. (Chapter 6)

Chuks would never have suggested it, if he wasn't so sure of my response and I would have raised suspicions if I had told him what he didn't want to hear, so I decided to play along.

"And madam, he is actually one of the brightest prospect in his class back at his orphanage home in Port Harcourt.
I know how this feel ma'am.
Looks like I'm forcing him on you but the world will definitely become a better place if we can contribute our quota to the welfare of these young kids especially orphans like this cute boy Ma'am.
He is not only cute, he is a good and brilliant boy also", Dr Chuks said.

"And this house is definitely too big not to have a child roaming about, it's a nice and welcome development Ma'am".
Kate intercepts.

I was so lost in the conversations while my eyes was on the 5 years old boy who was just enjoying himself playing with his toys.
I'm sure he is as clueless and surprised as I was but he couldn't express his thoughts just yet and that's because he is still just a child.
I wasn't very different from that child that morning though cause I couldn't express anything meaningful even though I was so full of rage.

It felt like a perfect gang up and I wasn't surprised James and Kate could pull it off, and including both Dr Chuks and this poor boy, That was damn scary and evil.

At least I realized that none of them is worthy of my trust. I was on my own.
I was all by myself in this big house, no one will ever take my side.

Back to my living room again
"Babe, babe! Did you even hear us at all ?
Do you wanna think about it?
Or should be we discuss this privately?"
James said.

"You can take your time ma,
I can come back with the documents anytime or you can send Kate to come get it or maybe not."
Dr  Chuks intercepted.

"No!
Wait Dr Chuks"
I replied..

"I....I.....I....  was just lost in some thoughts for seconds."
I stammered for a second
"Send him over here first of all."
I asked Chuks to bring Michael forward.

"Micheal, come and say hello to Mrs Johnson."
Kate said

Little Micheal headed to my arms and he was so damn soft, calm and cool. And not to mention clueless.
He was a little pawn in adult's game and I felt extreme pity for him at that point and onwards.

"Oh Micheal, you can call me Mum and here is your Dad."

I reintroduced him to James just for formality sakes.
James has obviously met him before and I quite understand that he is his son but what I still don't get is why he had to introduce his son to me as an orphan I should take in.
My day actually went from bad to worst cause I just lost another ally in Dr Chuks.

He was supposed to be a trust worthy ally but as long as he is part of the sham.
I know he can never be trusted again.
Not that I'm surprised to know where his loyalty lies though.

After the whole drama, I moved Micheal into an empty room I already decorated in faith a year ago in anticipation of a child but it's like I would be getting two all of a sudden.

"Isn't God just wonderful?"
I said to myself in my thoughts.

After some mumbled discussions for some minutes with my husband and Dr Chuks, I finally summoned the courage in me to say something.

"Thanks everyone, will you all care to join us for breakfast?"
I asked.
"No ma'am, I'm heading to the agency straight away."
Kate replied with urgency in her voice.

"Kate, thank you."
I said.
"You are welcome ma",
She replied.

"You should move down my schedule by an hour today.
Don't call me unless it is an emergency. I need some time out from work especially for Michael. Call Toye and tell him to bring my phone."
I said.

"He is here already.
And here is your phone ma.
He said you weren't feeling to good last night.
Are you ok now?"
She asked.

"Yes I am.
Or do I look like I'm not?",
I asked with a smile.

"Today's surprise was more than I was expecting but I really thank you guys for pulling such a huge one on me"
I said.
Kate smiled.
"Just hurry to the agency already"
I responded hurriedly.

"Ok ma.
See you soon

And bye Mr jay."
Kate said

She called James out loud but he couldn't hear as he was still busy sorting things out with Chuks.
Kate left.

I know you were probably thinking about what was going through my mind and why I would have stayed to listen to  all the bullshit especially when I knew the whole truth in the first place.
You would probably be asking yourself
'Is she dumb or stupid?
Or both?'

Maybe you are wrong?
Maybe you are right?
Time will tell.

Just as I was heading into our bedroom. James was heading into Micheal's room.
I turned back and returned to the living room just as I met doctor Chuks who suddenly moved close to me and whispered into my ears.

"We need to talk at the hospital today. Just call me."
He said

I couldn't give him a response just as he headed out in a hurry.

I managed to wave good byes, just as Dr chuks left the building.

"Babe! Babe!
What can we offer Michael for breakfast?
Is there cereals?"
James asked.

"I am coming in already."
Just go get some rest, let me handle Micheal from this point onward."
I replied.

Don't get it twisted, I love Michael and I really do love him even if his existence is full of lies.But that wasn't definitely the poor boy's fault so I'm never going to blame him, instead, I will do my best to look after him just like my own son.

So Back to what Chuks said, I am so damn curious about what he wanted to see me for, and I also guessed it is about the just concluded drama.

Maybe Chuks never turned?
Maybe I can still trust him?
Just maybe?

So I cleared my schedule in the evening and prepared to go see him at the hospital that evening.
So what happened at the meeting with Chuks?
