It can't be, surely. I opened my laptop on my desk and sat into the chair logging onto Facebook and clicking the notification. A profile popped up with Elijah. The guy from my work. My throat began to tighten and I could feel the shortness in my breath.

I scrolled down his profile, not able to see much since I hadn't accepted his request. How did he find me? I asked myself. All I gave him was my first name.

Then it hit me. I'm linked to the coffee shops Facebook page. I sighed a relief and closed my laptop. I will worry about the request tomorrow.

Getting up from my chair I headed back out into the kitchen where I found Lux making dinner. "Mac and cheese again?" I chuckled.

She held up the pot from the counter and gave the biggest smile she could give, "the one and only dish I can cook? Why yes." I shot her another grin and took a seat on the island bench.

"Mystery man found me on Facebook" I confessed.

She snapped her head around and widened her eyes. "Is that right? Did you accept mystery man?" she asked. I shrugged, putting my hands up in defence "I haven't done anything about it yet."

"Can I see him?" Lux asked running over and picking up my phone. Before I could even stop her, she had already found his profile. "Hot damn Luna!" she thundered, "he is not what I expected."

I snatched my phone back from her, "he isn't that exciting, plus, once again he has glasses on in his profile picture. You can even tell exactly what he looks like."

Lux walked back over to the pot of mac and cheese "with hair like that Luna, he's definitely going to be good looking."

I stared at his profile again for a few seconds before pressing confirm and placing my phone back down. "It's done" I proudly said, "are you happy now?"

Lux grinned and began serving our dinner. Then we sat in silence whilst we ate and listening to the birds outside while watching the sunset.

The sound of my alarm woke me up suddenly from my sleep. I picked up my phone, seeing the time 4:30am.

I groaned and forced myself to get out of bed. Taking a quick hot shower and putting on my work clothes which included tight black high wasted skinny jeans with a simple olive coloured singlet top tucked in, along with my black and white joggers.

I grabbed my keys and headed out the door to work.

I pulled up to Whipped and started opening up. Doing my normal routine before opening the shop at 5. My co-worker Lucy arrived not long after me and waved.

Monday mornings were always busy. The rush started around 5:30am. I don't mind it. Makes the mornings go quicker.

A part of me wanted to see Elijah walk through the front doors. But I was also feeling apprehensive about seeing him.

It was completely unlikely. Like I said, he's from out of town. Just passing through.

"Luna!" I heard my name being called out from behind me, I turned around and saw Brooks standing there smiling. "Well isn't it nice to see you up bright and early" I teased.

Brooks is by far a night owl. It was quite odd seeing him awake this early. "If you must know, Luna, I want to take this year seriously" he stated while fixing his glasses. "So, if that means waking up at this disgustingly horrible hour of the morning, then so be it!" He exclaimed proudly.

I smirked and asked if he wanted his usual which he nodded as I began making it.

I had been completely distracted by Brooks arriving that I hadn't noticed Elijah walk through the door. I felt my stomach drop at the sight of him. "Who on earth is that?" Brooks asked, "I'd love me a tall glass of it."

"He's nobody Brooks. Here's your latte" I handed Brooks his drink and he took it from me. "You know him?" He looked at me. I shrugged, "he came in the other morning, he's creepy Brooks. He may look good looking and all, but there's something not right with him" I explained.

"Yeah" he scoffed, "it's rude to look that good in our small town, I mean, look at those tattoos!"

I turned my head around to Elijah. Brooks was right. Today he only wore a t-shirt which showed off his tattooed skin. Both arms were completely covered in the black ink. He once again wore his black jeans but this time with a black t-shirt tucked in. Sunglasses still on. Still not able to see his face.

Lucy was on the register when he walked in and started to serve him. I couldn't make out their conversation but they were both smiling.

Lucy started chuckling loudly as he paid for his drink and sat down at one of our tables.

She walked over giving me his order, still smiling, almost blushing. "What did he say to you?" I asked. "Nothing, he was just cracking jokes, flirting a little. Why?"

I told her not to worry and started making his drink.

Once I had finished, I realised Lucy was on the other side of the shop, talking to one of our customers, which left me to serve it to him.

"Elijah" I called out, he looked up from his phone and smirked at me. I put it down on the counter and started to walk away before feeling someone grab my arm and spin me around.

"Thank you, Luna" he said while emphasising my name. I

nodded my head and tried to walk away but realised he was still holding onto my arm. "I'm sorry about the other day. I didn't mean to come off so... creepy" he questioned.

"Don't worry about it" I half smiled, "you didn't scare me."

Well that was a total lie. And the way he's looking at me made me realise even he knew that was a lie. He nodded his head and let my arm go, took his drink and walked out.

I fixed my top and took a deep breath. I hadn't realised I had been holding it that whole time.

"Are you okay Luna?" I heard Lucy behind walk up me, "you don't look so good." I turned to her and told her I was fine and started walking about over to Brooks. He was deep into his phone which means he didn't see a thing that happened just then.

The rest of the morning was uneventful and soon enough it was time to start the first day of senior year.
