Chapter 10

JIMIN POV

Her presence effortlessly dissipated any trickle of that worst situation I went through.
Yet her question resurfaced them including the pain that reminded me of the sharp needle they used.

I don't want to go there.
I'm not ready to face them yet.
I need to run to save myself.

"I need to hide" my voice came out more seriously than intended.

The same intense sparks of iridescent arrows coursed every corner of my body when I felt her palm in mine.

I gazed at her astonished.

"Let's hide together."

That's it.
Never leave her hand.
My inner voice commanded.

With overwhelming happiness I ran behind her yearningly awaiting the surprises our fate had planned for today.

Aera POV

The gravelled road welcomed our heavy breathes and the marathon beats of our hearts when we finally were out of the beautiful verdure.

The roads were now quite busy as the rain had spared the earth for sometime.
Our breathes turned even and we faced each other.

"You run too fast" he breathed.

"I'm an athlete" I lied playfully showcasing my entire teeth like in those tooth paste commercials.

He raised a brow and tried hard to stifle a laugh forcing out his mouth.
And I stood there shamelessly smiling widely at him for no reason.

Wait.
There's a reason.
You're admiring him.

Ding-dong.....

We turned towards the source of the sound and found a corn dog truck in black and blue.

I gleamed and my mouth was already watering.

"Let's go there" I pointed at the truck.

"Hmm..." he looked nervous.

But why....?

"I'm not hungry" he said not looking at me.

GROWWWW.........LLLLL
His stomach growled as if saying
"Am I a joke to you...?"

" I don't have any money." He sighed uneasily.

Okay. That's the case.

"I didn't ask you for it".
I smiled genuinely meaning it.

Before he could react I was already pulling him towards the truck.

He stood there uneasily a few steps away from the truck when I approached him with four corn dogs in my hand.

From the look in his eyes I already knew he was ready to feast them in his mouth but he confined it.

"Here, this is for you" I waved it infront of him.

"Hmm...thanks" he took it from my hand reluctantly.

I tried to hide my smile because his embarrassed gestures were so damn cute.

We sat there and ate in silence.
God!  this was unbearable.
I didn't want this to be awkward for the both of us.
How do I start...?
Hmm.....
Think, think......

"What's your name..?"
Yes! That's how I start.

"What's your-- "

Wait.
Where did he go....?

Fear and sadness drowned my body.

Stupid Aera.
You were so into your thoughts, you didn't notice him leave.

No.
Why would he leave?

I turned the other side to look for him but my face harshly hit a hard chest.
I looked up and I swear my eyes burrowed in fright, gazing at the older man's angry face.

He looked down and I followed his stare.
Four bottles of soju were broken and few corn dogs rolling on the ground.

"Don't you have eyes..?" he yelled at me.

"I'm sorry Sir" I apologized trembling and my eyes welled up.

He looked so scary like those gangsters in movies.

"Now come with me and get me all of these". He was such a nasty man.
He caught hold of my coat's collar and screamed on my face.

I shivered frightened and desperately tried to free myself.
"I'm sorry Sir.
Please leave me" I begged.

BOOM!

I saw the man holding his nose and cursing words in pain as he fell back on the ground.

Before I could process what just happened, "run" he huffed and the next thing I knew was his fingers were laced with mine as we ran together once again.

It was him.
He was safe.
Relief and exuberant glee flooded my veins and I smiled widely like I just found my lost puppy.
A cute adorable puppy.

We stopped after what felt like an eternity. Panting hard while resting our palms on our knees.
I could feel the vibrations of my heart thumping all over and the heat oozing out of my body.

I never ran like this in my life.

I looked at him whose form was just as me and our eyes met.
After less than a second the boggles from our throats filled the thick ice glazed air.

Our loud laughters danced merrily while we held our stomachs.
We almost lost balance from laughing so hard.

His eyes dissapeared and he looked so lovable. I stared happily at him .
He looked so healthy and full of life now. I wanted him to stay like this always.
Along with me.
