You Were The Monster Which Never Existed

I was scared
Like a sailor wary of dark clouds.
Tremors dissolved me when we spoke.
I avoided you for fear of judgement; hate.

I was lost
Like an unanchored ship in a storm.
Loneliness gripped at every part of me.
Then you appeared like a beacon shining through the fog.

And in the flap of a sea-bird's wing, I trusted you.
You held me close and warmed my hands.
Stepped aboard my ship to help me ride the storm
And from
A haunting creature of the deep
You became
My steady land.

Thank you forever, tall one
