I was here. At the shop. The rampaged shop. The scene of the crime.

Looking at it with my bare eyes, I still couldn't believe it. I had come here to confirm the news, to really see it. How could something I draw come to life? How could it happen? Become an event or an accident that actually took place?

Suddenly the cat came in my mind. And that broken umbrella. I covered my mouth with my hand as I realized that the shop hadn't been the first.

All these paintings couldn't just spring to life unless....unless.....

There was just one explanation. It was magic! It had to be. A smile formed on my lips as I realized I had my very own superpower. I straightened my shirt. I had power now. I wasn't as powerless as I thought. Nor as...

"Inaya! What are you doing here?"

I turned around and came back to earth as a heavy, polite voice reached my ears.

"Just..just looking around", I muttered as an old man came trudging towards me.

"Well, you should be home right now, enjoying your holidays."  He attempted a smile which didn't quite reach his eyes. He must have been stressed out. What with the robbery and all.

"I just wanted to see 'Handmade Love', the place where me and my friends hang out alot. Come to think of it, you might have caught the thief by now. What with all the security cameras. I wanted to see who wrecked my favourite shop."

Mr. Habib ran a hand through his hair as he spoke,
"No. As it happens few of the cameras had been tampered with. They haven't been working for a while back. It seems the thief knew about those and avoided them. So no luck there. Probably he destroyed the cameras himself."
He muttered the last part under his breath, then sighed and continued, "I should probably go back. And you should too." He added as an afterthought.

I waved to him and headed in the opposite direction as him, the gears of my mind whirling at top speed. He, our new police man and former psychologist had given me much to think about.

I bit my lower lip. I think I know the thief. And I know her very well.
