Life was ironic.
I woke up early today - 7am to be exact (it’s a Sunday guys, come on), to go track Dante down and end everything once in for all, but was stopped by none other than my brother. Of course Ali didn’t know what my real intentions were, but still - pretty ironic.
“Kat, wait!” Footsteps running down the stairs followed the call as my brother approached me from behind.
“What?” I snapped, my voice tired.
I was drained from not getting any sleep last night. All those decisions, all those revelations… Who could blame me?
“I think you should talk to Emma,” He placed a hand on my shoulder, “She’s really hurt from your conversation earlier.”
“She told you about it?” I grimaced.
“Yeah,” My brother took a couple steps forward before facing me, frowning, “Are you okay?”
“What? Me?” I gestured to myself before recovering and running my fingers through my hair, “Yeah, great. Fine. Why did you ask?” I shot him a strained smile.
Ali raised a brow but said nothing, “Never mind. Just go find Emma first. I have to deal with head over to rehearsal… still can’t believe that it’s in 2 days,” He pinched the bridge of his nose, “I’ll talk to you later,” He pointed at me before running back up the stairs.
Sighing, I contemplated my choices.
Kill Dante or talk to Emma. I was obviously going to do both, but which one first. Not talking to Emma may have an impact on our friendship whilst holding off my kill wouldn’t make much of a difference. Pushing down my urge to live and get rid of Dante, I decided on prioritizing finding Emma.
Heaving a sigh, I whipped out my phone from my pocket and texted her.
Meet me at the mall asap. need to talk.
Not a moment later, my phone buzzed.

The first thing I said when I saw Emma was, “‘Sup.”
A stupid move.
I know.
She frowned, “Nothing much.”
Gulping, I made my way over to a bench in front of the ZARA store, jerking my head in an attempt to get her to join me - which she did so. Fishing my phone out from my pocket, I fiddled with it, tossing it up and down in the air. Emma began to pick at her nail polish that was started to peel off.
Moments passed.
Unable to take the tension any longer, I broke the silence by blurting out, “I’m sorry.”
She looked up at me for a single moment, “Okay.”
Okay? Okay? My eyes were bulging out of my head from frustration, and when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, it did.
As usual, Sofia and her friends had perfect timing.
The instant Emma saw them, she jumped up from her seat, ready to bolt.
“Wait,” I tugged on her coat sleeve, “Don’t run.”
Standing up, I stalked confidently towards the group of girls, dragging Emma behind me.
“Hey Sofia,” I shot her an ultra fake smile, nodding a greeting at the other girls.
“Katerina, lovely seeing you here!” Sofia opened her arms, expecting a hug that she didn’t get, “And… Em… Hi,” She didn’t even bother giving her a grin.
